As a transportation stakeholder, we greatly value the insights you provided. When asked recently about key trends impacting transportation, you responded loud and clear. Your insight helps us make important transportation decisions as we update Mississippi’s Unified Long-Range Transportation Infrastructure Plan(MULTIPLAN). Over the next 5 years, Mississippi’s economy will grow about the same as it has over the last 5 years. Urbanization will have the largest impact on transportation demand. Urban areas will grow faster over the next 10 years than the rest of the state. The technology with the greatest impact on Mississippi’s transportation over the next 20 years, will be the Internet. Over the next 20 years, the technological impact to transportation demand will grow faster than it has over the past 5 years. The business and consumer practice that will have the greatest impact on transportation demand in the next 10 years will be e-commerce. Over the next 20 years, changes in consumer practices that impact transportation demand will grow faster than in the past 5 years.
