Post Graduate Diploma in energy Management (PGDeM)

IntroductionEnergy management, a science, today presents challenges that are much more dynamic than they were in the past. Various organisations from Bureau of Energy Efficiency are looking for accredited Energy Managers and Auditors to find solution to these problems.

Energy management systems are applied in various forms and degrees of sophistication to all sectors of industry. These include recognising the importance of energy management, target setting, planning, and monitoring, reporting and implementing optimal control strategies. Such planned strategies require a specialised stream exclusively dedicated to develop individuals into expert energy managers.

Potential careersEnergy Management provides opportunities in utility management for various industrial sectors such as fertilizers, refinery, paper and pulp, cement, rubber, pharmaceutical, chemical, textile, gas and oil companies and various energy intensive industries utilising fuel and electricity.

It also offers opportunities in government & research groups, energy education, environmental regulation agencies, non-profit energy awareness and conservation organisations and for many other energy related agencies. This course is useful for existing utility managers, energy consultants, energy auditors, students of energy management, professors / lecturers of training institutes in the field of energy management.

Post Graduate Diploma in Fire Protection & safety (PGDFPs)

IntroductionTechnical changes within the industry and an increase in the number, variety, type of chemicals, flammable and combustible products and population densities have accentuated complex fire problems. Such demands have created a need of constant research and development of customized scientific solutions.

Similarly safety is connected with the lives and property of people and the general situation of reform, development and stability. Safety training can dramatically reduce maintenance costs, increase safety performance, prevent loss of time and accidents and enhance productivity. This requires a special branch of engineering.

Potential careersCareer opportunities are open in the government sector, private, industrial & the service sector. In the private sector, insurance, manufacturing firms, chemical and petrochemical firms, public utilities and educational complexes, airports, five star hotels, etc., employ candidates from this field.

Post Graduate Diploma in Piping Design (PGDPD)

IntroductionPiping design is a key element in various streams of engineering. It helps system designers, mechanical, packaging, and manufacturing engineers to accurately design, route document, and produce complex piping and tubing systems while optimally re-using designs for dramatic time savings and improvements in productivity.

Potential careersA Piping engineer plays an important role in “Concept to Commissioning” in all sectors of process and related industries. A Piping engineer has to be conversant with subjects such as fluid handling, stress strain relationship, material of construction, field instrumentation, statutory & safety aspects. Areas like design and selection of complex equipment applications, designing of audit requirements and developing of procedures for testing, installation, commissioning and startup also fall under his profile. With increasing emphasis on transportation of petroleum products, natural gas, corrosive hazardous chemicals, through underground and long distance pipelines, the requirement of skilled piping engineers is increasing day by day.
