Tom Holschier, one of our Year 8 students, found this
statement about Jesus and wrote it out for us.
Jesus thinks kids are great. Yep, that’s right, he really likes
you. Some people thought Jesus wouldn’t spend time with
kids, but they were wrong. God sent Jesus to show how
special you are to him. Jesus wants you to be the best you
can be, and he wants you to be friends with him and his
father God.
Jesus knows that you are not perfect but he is able to clear
away the bad stuff in your life. You can trust God to forgive
you for the bad things you have done, and change you from
the inside into the best person you can be – the person God
wants you to be!
Jesus is alive today. You can talk to him if you want to. You
can’t see him but he can see and hear you!
I had a number of things I was thinking of writing about for
the front page of this newsletter but it wouldn’t have been
as good as the above. Thanks for bringing this to our
attention Tom. Peter Nelson
The final Bible verses students will be aiming to memorise
for 2017 are:
Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven
and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you. And
surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’
Matthew 28:18-20

The RCCC Board
The school Board met last week for its monthly review and planning time. As part of this meeting the 2018 budget was approved which included a similar increase to school fees as occurred last year. We will forward these details to school families shortly and if this creates a problem for anyone, please talk to me. Due to the end of year, the Board plans to next meet on Wednesday evening January 24th 2018! Peter Nelson

Primary First Aid Training
St John Ambulance will visit our school this week on November 24th to deliver free First Aid in Schools training to our Grade Prep to Grade 6 students. St John presenters will lead these students through a tailored session on the importance of First Aid and what to do in the event of an emergency. Participating students will be given a special piece of homework to take home and complete. We encourage parents to help with this homework and going online (www.stjohnvic.com.au/quiz) to see how much is known about First Aid. More information about the St John First Aid in Schools program can be found at: www.stjohnvic.com.au/schools

Swan Class
goes to
Melbourne! On Thursday 16th November, Miss Phillips and Mr Nelson took the 4/5/6 class on an overnight
trip to Waverley Christian College, in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. We packed the bus and
left River City at 9 o’clock, and enjoyed a very, VERY rainy 3 hour drive. When we arrived we were
greeted by many smiling faces, including the group of Year 6 student leaders that had
visited us in Echuca earlier in the year. They were so excited to see us! We split into 2 groups and
went with our buddies to some different classes. We got to see some special parts of their school
like the library, art room, music room and some of the classrooms too. For the last class of the
day, we came back together to do a special Lego Robotics class in their Mac Lab. We learnt about
coding programs and self-driving cars, before we got to work with our partners to create a series
of codes that would make our robotic car do a 3 point turn. It was so much fun! That night, the
Year 6 leaders and their families brought dinner to school to share with us. There was so much
delicious food, and it was lovely to be able to meet so many new people. Before we went home
on Friday, we went to the Melbourne IMAX theatre—which has one of the biggest screens in the
world! We saw a film called Amazon Adventure 3D, which was all about an Amazonian explorer
on the hunt for new species of animals. It was amazing, especially parts where it felt like the
animals were jumping out of the screen! After that it was time to make the long drive back
home. We had such a great time away, and made lots of special memories together.
