Old MixcoacMixcoac is located on the shores ofLake Texcoco. The settlement wasalmost destroyed with the arrival ofthe Spanish conquistadors. All thatsurvives of the ancient architecturecan be found in the Colonia SanPedro de los Pinos on San AntonioAve.

Mixcoac had an excellent locationnear the lake with mountainslocated to the west. Surrounded byagricultural vil lages, it was thoughtthat Mixcoac was frequented bymusicians & dancers from the Valleyof Mexico. Parties were thrown towelcome visitors, the festivitiesincluded; hunting trips, music, anddancing. In honor of Mixcoatlbefore hunting participants had topass through his shrine.
