Mixed Model Line Design. The future of manufacturing belongs to mul-product manufacturing, but few Lean praconers are competent in mixed-model line design. The deliverable for this workshop is for parcipants to learn these skills, and to be able to apply them immed- iately in their home factory environment. Beyond Lean Basics. Take the leap beyond 5S, Value Stream Mapping and SMED to where the real process improvement take place: Line Design. This workshop is led by the authors of The Complete Guide to Mixed Model Line Design, experts in mixed model line design from Leonardo Group Americas, with presentaons from industry experts from Toyota Material Handling. Physical Implementaon. Students learn best by doing, and this advanced Workshop will include the actual implementaon of all of the line design tools in a simula- on environment. Parcipants will apply all of the formal line design steps, culminang with an actual mixed model line design in the classroom. Toyota Plant Tours (2). Parcipants will have a chance to compare what was learned in the classroom, and applied in a simulaon environment, to what is actually done at a factory that was named one of Industry Week Magazine’s Top 10 Plants in the US. The plant tours will be led by seasoned Toyota experts, with a focus on the the line design tools previously learned. Accomplish Real Work. This workshop has an immediate and praccal goal: the creaon of a Line Design improvement plan, a me-phased, company-specific list of acons that can be implemented immediately. Parcipants from the same company will work as a team to create this plan. Lunchme Q&A. Managers and engineers from Toyota will host a Q&A session during the lunch period, to answer Toyota-specific quesons and methods.
