Mixed Numbers and Fractions
Chapter 8 Vocabulary (p. 42)• Equivalent Fractions = fractions that name
the same amount or the same part of a whole.
• Simplest form = a fraction in which the numerator and denominator have no common factors other than 1.
• Mixed Number = a number that includes a whole-number part that is not zero and a fraction.
Chapter 8 Vocabulary (p. 42)• Terminating Decimal = a decimal, such as
1/2 = 0.5, where the division operation results in a remainder of 0.
• Repeating Decimal = a decimal, such as 1/3 = .333, which shows a pattern of repeating digits.
