ML Surface Treatment

The ML implant surface treatment has been developed under strict international process standards, which, in turn, has led to a safe and predictable answer to osseointegration.

Our implants are treated by a physicochemical process that conditions the surface and provide the ideal rough-ness to enlarge the contact area to the bone tissue, improving, in this way, the osseointegration process.

The process for which we develop a surface treatment is validated and carried out by a team specially built up for this task, thus, we possess automated control for all the parameters during blasting (Speed, direction, pressure particle size), acid etched surface process ( temperature, time). This allows us to guarantee the repetitiveness of each of our implants.

ML Surface Features

BLASTING

Blasting consists of throwing parti-cles at great speed over the implant surface, which provokes the plas-tic malformation localized on the impacted surface pulling off of the material.

PASSIVATION

The resistance of corrosion of the titanium is due to the passivated layer of Oxide that is formed na-turally and spontaneously when in contact with the air or other means. As a consequence, the chemical and biological agents do not interact with the titanium.

Even though the passivation is produced in a spontaneous and natural way, it is necessary to fa-vor the process through an acid treatment to achieve a thicker and more homogeneous layer of Oxide along the surface

ACID ETCHED SURFACE

The acid etched process is a pro-cedure based on the controlled corrosion of the titanium dipped into an acid solution, which pro-duces rough surfaces and micro-hole topography.

This treatment added to the blas-ting allows to obtain two scales of roughness, the microholes pro-voked by the acid etched process and a roughness of higher scale related to the blasting, therefore, by the combination of these two treatments, a greater surface of bone-implant contact is obtained rather than carrying out the pro-cedure by making use of just one of them.

1 Pull to take out the shrinkable security seal. 2 Take out the closing tap

of the secondary pac-kage and pour the primary package.

3 Take out the silicone cap. 4 Place the fixture-mount in the contra-angle or ma-

nual adapter. Insert the implant fixture-mount, performing a small twist until you make sure a correct connection with the implant is made.

5 Place the implant in the osteotomy. 6 Take out the support

closing lid with the hex. screwdriver 0,050’’. Make sure the screwdriver has been co-rrectly placed to avoid the loss off the lid.

package to pour the implant into your hand.

5 Place the implant in the osteotomy. Per-

form the first twists ma-nually with the knob. Take out the knob and finish ins-talling by a Ratchet Wrench or Contra-Angle.

6 Take out the three in one fixture-mount

and keep it (It can be used for impression taking or/and straight abutment).

7 Take out the closing lid of the knob with

the hex. screwdriver 0,050’’. Make sure the screwdriver has been correctly pla-ced to avoid the loss off the lid.

Cleaning, Sterilization and Maintenance

Instructive and Tips

PRE-CLEANINGEquipment: Rigid container, Enzymatic Solution.Note: Do not use high level disinfectant such as glutaraldehyde . Before immersing ML implant system instruments the sharp, poin-ted elements must be separated and dismantled so as to promote the contact with the enzymatic solution. The user must use the protection barriers to reduce the risk of exposition of the skin or the mucous membranes to the contaminated materials.

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:• Immediately after being used, the instruments must be immersed in a rigid bucket with recently prepared enzymatic solution, according to the specifications of the manufacturer, respecting the temperature, concentration and immersion time , ensuring that all the instruments’ surface is in contact with the solution. The drying of blood, secretions or other substances must not be allowed on any of them. The surgical instruments must be cleaned, having been used or not. • Rinse the material with tap water, achieving the removal of any organic material and the diminishing of the bioburden through me-chanical dragging.

MANUAL CLEANING Equipment: Detergent of neutral PH , slightly alkaline (PH=7-8,5) prescribed for the cleaning of delicate surgical material , in case the instruments are very dirty, use solution of enzymatic detergent, al-cohol at 96 v/v, demineralized water and a non-abrasive, sterile soft bristle brush.

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:• Immerse the ML Instruments in the chosen solution according to the degree of dirtiness, respecting the temperature, concentration and immersion time ,according to the specifications of the manufacturer.• Energetically brush the instruments under water, especially within the grooves. • Rinse with plenty of microbiologically and physicochemical apt water. • Dry the instruments immediately after rinsing with sterile com-pressed filtrated air or with a microfiber cloth, embedded in alco-hol solution, to avoid contamination afterwards. • Check visually with the help of a magnifying glass the non existen-ce of remaining organic material • Prepare the instruments to be processed by the sterilization method by vapor.

MECHANICAL CLEANING Equipment: Ultrasonic cleaner,.neutral, slightly alkaline detergent (PH=7-8,5) prescribed for the cleaning of delicate surgical material , in case the instruments are very dirty, use solution of enzymatic deter-gent, always respecting in both cases the temperature, concentra-tion and immersion time specified by the manufacturer of the solu-tion and/or the equipment, alcohol at 96 v/v, demineralized water.

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:• Degass the solution • Choose a cleaning program and respect the temperature, con-centration and immersion time specified by the manufacturer of the equipment, bearing in mind that lengthening the cleaning can provoke a redeposit of dirt. • Introduce the material in the corresponding baskets, without excessively overload them, checking that no shadows that hinder the passing of ultrasound are produced and introduce the baskets, totally covering the material with the cleaning solution.• Take out the material and rinse with microbiologically and physi-cochemical apt water• Dry the instruments immediately after rinsing with sterile compres-sed filtrated air or with a microfiber cloth , embedded in alcohol• Check visually with the help of a magnifying glass the non existen-ce of remaining organic material • Prepare the instruments to be processed by the sterilization method by vapor.

ESTERILIZATION Equipment: Autoclave, medical grade paper bag (or crepe paper, peeling reels, polypropylene, non-woven cloth or tyvek) distilled water of acceptably biological quality. Note: The quality of the sterilizing agent can be affected by the con-taminants present in the used water to generate vapor, these can be found suspending in the water, being the cause of toxic, corro-sive effects and can also generate a barrier between the sterilizing agent and the micro organisms

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:• Load the material in the prepared autoclave in the medical grade pa-per bag or the chosen barrier system. Do not overload the equipment.• Choose the sterilization program recommended by the manufac-turer of the equipment, according to the material to be processed. ML IMPLANT SYSTEM advises to apply the requirements specified by the ISO 17665-1:2006; ISO 17665-2:2006 norms, In the following chart, some examples in connection with temperature and the mi-nimum in line with the norms times(Chart from Technical Information Report ANSI/AAMI/ISO TIR 17665-2:2009 pag. 3):

• Once the cycle is finished (Heating- Sterilization-Drying) open the door of the equipment, having in mind not unloading the hot ma-terial as well as not placing it over a colder surface, to prevent the condensation of the environmental humidity. • Store the instruments in a clean environment at a controlled and temperature and humidity.

Instruments’ cleaning and sterilization Instructions WARNINGS:

• The new non-sterile instruments must be handled in the same way as the used ones. • It is recommened to process all the instruments, as soon as it is considered to be reasonably practical, after they have been used.• Eliminate the remains of povidone iodine solution, peroxyacetic acid,hydrogen peroxyde, or isotonic solution of sodium chloride at 0,9% , which can turn out to be the cause for corrosion and deterioration.•The temperature of the solutions cannot be over 45˚c, so as to avoid blood coagulation and facilitates the elimination of protein substances.
