    The Spirit Imprisoned

Without trying to be pietistic I believe that there are a large percentage of Jesusfollowers who are living in prison. This is not a physical imprisonment. It is more theentrapment of the spirit in an environment that fails to acknowledge the truth thatfaith in Jesus can breed a freedom that is beyond any logical explanation.

Our Biblical history, sorry Gods History in the Bible is just beyond any experiencethat we may be able to accept without His enabling. This enabling is available to allbelievers if we accept that all things are possible with God.

Of course the problem is that we have all been sold a pup that the Bible is history ,you know it is in the past. The thing is this is fine if we are treating the Bible as apiece of literature. But if it is being read as Gods Word, as His Living Word, weimmediately have a problem when it comes to the impossible events of the Bible.

You know the ones that I am talking about; a man who has been paralysed for 38years suddenly gets up and walks. Another who has been dead for four days andburied in a tomb walks out at the command of Jesus. Not to mention the stories fromthe Old Testament like Moses being spoken to from a bush that appeared to be onfire even though it did not get burnt up, and the lepers, who sick of life, walked intoan enemy camp figuring they would be killed only to find it abandoned and then wentback to the city under siege where they had no refuge to save the inhabitants.

Father promises us so much from within His History that so often our opposition triesto make simple faith a complex matter. Through Jesus He has made us sons anddaughters, now think about that for a moment. We were the reason that Jesus hadto come and minister then finally to di e. We are a corrupted creation. God couldhave just started over again and removed our propensity to rebel. But no, He hadsuch love for His creation and so although it broke His heart He let His Sonsurrender His life to enable us to be called members of Gods family. Now logicallyyou or I would never be able to do something like that would we?

Yet even though we can accept this truth by faith we fail to accept that there arethings from the Bible that logic precludes. Thomas in the upper room was told bythe master that he believed because he saw but that others would come who wouldhave to believe without seeing, Jesus called them (us) blessed by our faith.

The Master said some pretty amazing things really. Things that sounded prettyimpossible at the time and probably still today. His signs and wonders were theproof of His divinity yet in His parting comments to the disciples, and I for onechoose to consider myself one, said that we would do even greater things than Hinwhen Holy Spirit came upon us.

The fact is that we imprison our spirit when we fail to take Father, and Jesus, at His

word outlandish as some of the messages may sound. We need to be enabled toact upon Gods Words where we are and that means submitting our logic to Hishigher purpose. His is the power and the grace He enables us to conquer againstthe enemy, in whatever form, that seeks to control our faith and keep others in aprison that is of their own making.

Father doesnt need us to act out His purpose. He chooses us to be His agents ofchange to make a different for those around us who are still in the dark.

Anyone know where the candles are?
