Show Rules and Regulations

1. Correctly fastened hard hats must be worn by ALL riders, when mounted, on theshowground. See http://www.bhs.org.uk/~/media/bhs/brc/merlin/miscupdates/2019-brc-hat-tagging-guide-for-competitors.ashx?la=en

2. All vaccinations must have at least the first 2 starter course within the last year of theshow. Yearly boosters must also be within a year of the show.

Spot checks may occur so passports MUST accompany the horse to the show.

3. Competitors will be eliminated for excessive use of the whip, spurs, abusive languageor for abuse to horse or pony.

4. The Judge’s decision is final.

5. Objections must be made in writing to the secretary within 30 minutes of the incidentaccompanied by a deposit of £20 that will be forfeit if the objection is overruled.

6. The organisers will not be held responsible for any accident, loss, theft or damagehowsoever caused to any person or their property or their animals on theshowground. It shall be considered a condition of entry that each entrant shall agreeto indemnify the organisers against any legal action arising from such accidents

7. No entry fee will be refunded unless either a medical or vet’s certificate is produced.

8. No horse or pony may compete in ridden classes under the age of 4 years.

9. Horses/Ponies may only walk between rings and are not allowed around theRefreshment or Secretary areas. Practice fences and areas are allotted.

10. Challenge trophies must be signed for before removal from the Showground andMUST be returned by 30th June the following year.

11. The Organisers reserve the right to withhold up to 50% of the entry fees in theunlikely event of the Show being cancelled or abandoned.

12. All dogs to be kept on leads & under control at all times.

13. Please take your litter home with you. Do not muck out your transport on to theShowground.

14. The Organisers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety ofeveryone present. For these to be effective, everyone must take all reasonableprecautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey the instructions of theOrganisers and all the Officials and Stewards.

15. Winners of trophies must pay a £25 deposit to take them home.

Open to members and non-members, however NON MEMBERS to purchase day membership for this show. Daymembership must be purchased from VHS head office at least 2 weeks in advance of the show, at a cost of £20. A daymembership card and age badge will be provided.

All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediatedisqualification.

Members and Day members must carry their current VHS membership card in the ring and produce these on request –no exceptions will be made. No card no entry or qualification.

VHS Supreme Final qualification. Competitors placed 1stand 2ndin each class will also qualify directly for thecorresponding class at the VHS Supreme Final, to be held at the National Veteran Open Championships, Arena UK,Lincolnshire, 27 - 29thSeptember 2019.

VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 3rd - 4thin each class will qualify for the corresponding class atVHS Regional Finals. Members and Day-members will have their showing card signed by the judge in the ring as proof ofqualification. Day-members must become full VHS members within 14 days and exchange their day-showing card for afull showing card in order to validate their Regional Final qualification. Regional Finals are open to members only.

VHS M&M Supreme Final qualification. The highest placed M&M in each class will qualify for the VHS M&M SupremeFinal at the National Veteran Open Championships.

If the competitor has already qualified or does not wish to attend, they must refuse the qualification and pass it downthe line on the day. Day members must become full VHS members in order to enter the Supreme Final.

Once you have a Supreme Qualification you must enter the Supreme Final within 21 days of gaining this qualification -NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED.

All competitors are eligible to enter open classes at the National Veteran Open Championships. No qualification ormembership necessary. See VHS website for schedule.

National Veteran Open Championship will be held at Arena UK, Lincolnshire. Entries on-line via the VHS website.

(i) VHS All competitors and grooms must adhere to Veteran Horse Society (VHS) rules in all circumstances andshould acquaint themselves with these rules and regulations before entering. These can be found at www.veteran-horse-society.co.uk. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification.

(ii) Horses or ponies entering these classes may be any type or breed, of any height and do not need to be pure breeds.

(iii) Competitions are open to BOTH members and non-members of the Veteran Horse Society. Non-members willhowever need to purchase a DAY MEMBERSHIP in advance of the Show at a cost of £20 from the VHS office. A daymembership card and age badge will be provided. Anyone qualifying on a day membership must then become a FULLVHS member within 14 days and exchange their day-showing card for a full showing card in order to enter the VHSSupreme Final or VHS Regional Final. (vi) No foals, spurs, galloping or wearing of face/body jewellery permitted.

(vii) Horses may be shod or unshod.

(viii) IMPORTANT. Grooms must be turned out in accordance to the VHS ruling, any groom not dressed correctly willbe asked to leave the ring and marks deducted from the competitor's score.

(ix) Mares with foals at foot are not accepted in any of the classes. Foals may not be left outside the ring, as this isnot acceptable to mare or foal.

(x) Minimum age of handler for In Hand classes 9 years old. Minimum age of handlers for stallions in hand - riddencompetitors must be over 16 years of age.

(xi) Lead rein riders (3-6 years of age). No child under 3 years old may compete. Lead rein riders are not to haveattained their 7th birthday before the first of January in the current showing year.

(xii) Classes may be split due to size of class.

(xiii) Judge will NOT ride.

(xiv) All ridden classes will be expected to strip down and do an individual show.

(xv) The judge's decision is final.

Qualifiers:(xvi) VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each class will qualify for thecorresponding class at VHS Regional Finals. Members and Day-members must have their showing card signed by thejudge in the ring as proof of qualification. Day-members will require the Judge to sign the Day Membership Card andthen send this with Full Membership Application to the VHS Head Office, where a signed Full Membership Card willbe exchanged for VHS membership. Day members must become full VHS members in order to enter the RegionalFinals as Regional finals are open to members ONLY.

(xvii)VHS Supreme Final qualification. Competitors placed 1st and 2nd in each class will also qualify directly for thecorresponding class at the VHS Supreme Final, to be held at the National Veteran Championships. If the competitorhas already qualified or does not wish to attend, they must refuse the qualification and pass it down the line on theday. Day members must become full VHS members in order to enter the Supreme Final which is open to membersONLY.

(xviii) VHS M&M Supreme Final qualification. The highest placed registered M&M in each class will qualify for theVHS M&M Supreme Final at the National Veteran Open Championships.

(xix) National Veteran Championships. All competitors are eligible to enter open classes at the National VeteranChampionships. No qualification or membership necessary. See VHS website for schedule.

(xx) Should any competitor(s) have previously qualified, they may not accept qualification. Qualification will passdown the line but qualification may NOT pass below 6th place.
