Shortages on the Home Front• War jobs meant extra money but…• Sugar, butter, meat, shoes, nylon, and gasoline

were strictly rationed through stamps.

• No more stamps = No more food

• Victory Gardens provided 1/3 of the nations fresh vegetables.

Americans United

– Americas were united in a common cause– However, Profits and Inflation was rising, but wages

were stagnant.• 1943 saw many strikes as workers struggled to make ends

meet. (COAL STRIKES)
