MBD-MBE OPPORTUNITIES
4
• Model Based Definition:– An annotated model and its
associated data elements that define the product in a manner that can be used effectively without a drawing graphic sheet.
• Model Based Enterprise:– An organization that uses
model-based definitions for the purpose of commission, operation, service, and decommission of a product.

CREO 6.0 CORE MBD ENHANCEMENTS
20
• Creation & Editing– Context sensitive format ribbon for notes
– Snapping guides for tangent/normal placement on edges
– Improved dragging behavior for ‘on item’ type note
– Consolidated legacy dialogs of properties & format commands into modern UI tools• Tip: Legacy note properties dialog may be restored with the
following config: “hide_pre_creo6_note_properties yes*/no”
• Standalone Annotation Behavior– Can have parameters
– Can be designated as Control Characteristic for MPMLink
– Issues are reported in Notification Center
MODERNIZATION OF NOTES
Benefits
• Easier note creation workflows
• Contextual ribbon
• Consolidated formatting options
• Modern standalone capabilities
21
• Semantic Definition Support– Reference collector button in the ribbon
– Attachment reference is automatically added
– Can have multiple semantic references
– Supports semantic query highligting
• Modernized notes are also available for drawings
MODERNIZATION OF NOTES
22
• New “My symbols” section is available in the note’s text editor dialog
• My symbols list shows the user the most recently used symbols and being updated as the user inputs additional symbols
MOST RECENTLY USED SYMBOLS BAND IN NOTE’S TEXT EDITOR
Available with:
Creo 6.0.1.0
23
• New ‘Exclude‘ state for annotations with missing references– Excluded annotations are not displayed in graphics
• Configurable behavior– Annotations with regeneration failure/warning are being highlighted on screen (legacy behavior)
OR
– Annotations being excluded and not visible on screen (new behavior)
IMPROVED PARENT/CHILD BEHAVIOR FOR ANNOTATIONS
Missing References
Pre Creo 6.0 behavior
Creo 6.0 behavior (Optional)
24
• Supported for:– Modernized standalone annotations
– Annotation feature owned, annotation elements
• Annotations may be excluded due to parent feature being:– Excluded by family table
– Excluded by Simplified representation
– Suppressed
– Deleted
– Section which is deactivated & hidden • Supported for: Modernized standalone annotations
except for ordinate dimension
• Controlled with 4 new detail options:– excl_annotations_of_suppressed/deleted/excluded/section
IMPROVED PARENT/CHILD BEHAVIOR FOR ANNOTATIONS
Benefits
• Easier management of annotation visibility
• Failed annotations can be removed from screen
25
• New column for model tree: “Annotation status”, informs about the status of the annotation:– Excluded
– Missing references
– Failed
– Unconverted
– Not available – for standalone non modernized type annotations
• Search tool updated for annotation status query– Can help find all annotations that are sharing a
selected status
IMPROVED PARENT/CHILD BEHAVIOR FOR ANNOTATIONS
26
• Stacked annotations propagation is improved
• Example for external merge:
• Manual selection of a stack member annotation will propagate the whole stack
• Supported for annotations feature owned, annotation elements
ENHANCED PROPAGATION OF ANNOTATION ELEMENTS FOR DATA SHARING FEATURES
Benefits
• More robust annotation propagation
• Help maintain design intent
27
• Annotation Elements (AE) can be moved to other Annotation Features (AF) of the same top model without actual editing any AF
• Annotations can be selected from Model tree/Detail tree/Graphics
• AEs that belong to different AF can also be relocated by this enhancement
• Stacked Annotation will move together to the target AF
ENHANCED FLEXIBILITY WHEN WORKING WITH ANNOTATION FEATURES
Also Available with: Creo 4.0 M080 / Creo 5.0.5.0
28
• Drawing name can now automatically be extracted from the model name
AUTOMATIC DRAWING NAMING
Benefits
• Saves time
• Eliminates typing errors
29
• Modelcheck can report about MBD related situations in your model:
– Annotations that are not referencing any surfaces
– Surfaces not referenced by any GD&T
– Annotations not found on any combined state or annotations that are shown in more than one combined state
– Combined State Names do not adhere to pre-defined naming convention
• User can selectively decide which annotations will not be reported
NEW MBD CHECKS IN MODELCHECK
Benefits
Help users to verify their design intent & identify errors

CREO EZ TOLERANCE ANALYSIS INTEGRATION
Future looking information subject to change without notice
Powered by
• Capabilities: – Define & visualize multiple 1-D tolerance stack-up
analysis using existing model surfaces, assemblyconstraints and GD&T
– Evaluate impact of GD&T stack-ups on areas of concern using common statistical & quality metrics
– Generates detailed html reports
– Indicates when more complex analysis is advised(CETOL 6σ)
– Removes the need of working with spreadsheets
• Integration details:– Co-existing with TAE for Creo 4.0 M110 / 5.0.6.0 / 6.0.3.0 integrations
– TAE will be retired with Creo 7.0.0.0
– EZ Tolerance analysis will be available with the existing TAE license
