    iv

v The sectioning of shoulders is not done properly.v The rain gullies on the shoulders are observed.c Suggestions::

The surface shall be of correct alignment, grade and contour specified. At any point tested, the concrete shall not show a departure greater than 4 mm from the true surface as per Cl.9.22.5 of IRC-15-2002.

The surface evenness in longitudinal direction ( Max. permitted undulations 8mm ) and transverse direction ( 4mm) shall be adhered to as per Table 7.1 of IRC-SP-11-2005.The actual surface levels shall not vary from designed levels by 10mm as per Cl.7.2.2 of IRC-Sp-11-1988.

The edges of carriage way shall be with in the tolerance limits of 25mm with respect to center line of carriage way as per Cl.7.2.2 of IRC-Sp-11-1988The surface texture shall be applied on top of cc pavements to control skidding and improve the riding quality. Surface Texture depths shall be in the range of 1.0mm to 1.25mm depth (Table 9 of IRC_15-2002)It has to be checked that no extra water or bleeding shall occur on the top surface of concrete. Excessive water at the top will make the top surface very weak and there will be more abrasion (IRC:SP:20-2002). Steel Box Containers:: Pl.refer the Chief Engineer (Designs & Admn.),PR, Hyd. vide Cir.Memo No.AEE4/DEE1(D)/CC ROADS/2008 Dt 23.10.2008 that the Measurement of Volume Mix concrete in rural areas is generally done by locally made containers and there is no uniformity in size. It is advisable to key 6 steel boxes each with a volume of half bag, the size being 300 x 300 x 195mm with 2 handles. With usage of this boxes quality of concrete improves. Pl.refer this office Cir.No. AEE1/CC Roads/VQC Nlg/2013, Dated: 16.08.2013 for comprehensive Planning, Design & Construction of Cement Concrete Pavements in rural areas compiled from various IRC Codes.

No deficiency in Length , Width & Depth of GSB is observed with respect to the M.Book recordings. (Statement is enclosed ).

The transverse slope at 4% and or more than 0.50% of carriage way slope are not maintained. The edges of Road Way shall be with in the tolerance limits of 40mm with respect to center line of carriage way as per Cl.7.2.2 of IRC-Sp-11-1988

The construction shall be done in layers each matching the thickness of adjoining layer. Only after a layer of WBM, shoulder shall be laid and compacted. Next corresponding layers in pavement shall be taken up after the completion of first layer of WBM and shoulder.

The compaction requirement of earthen shoulder is 100% of Standard Proctor Density ( IS-2720-1980).The crossfall for earth shoulders should be at least 0.5 % steeper than the slope of the pavement subject to a minimum of 4%. On super elevated sections, the shoulders should normally have the same crossfallas the pavementto drain of surface water.
