Know the criteria of evaluation mostly used in America to determine food security. Learn the methodology to be followed for the assessment of food consumption patterns in populations. Know with scientific foundation of nutrition trends (malnutrition, overweight and obesity) in Mexico and in the world
To know with scientific foundation the problems associated with overweight and obesity as: Diabetes, Hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases. Know with scientific foundation the health problems associated with the food.

Programs to combat food insecurity in Mexico and America.
Analysis at the national and international level: - health and nutrition surveys (Mexico and other countries) that address consumer habits, intake of energy and nutrients, the deficit of intake of vitamins and antioxidants, among others, as the case may be, the information can be submitted considering different age groups.

We expect that the student is able to identify the environmental risks based on the current trends where he/she is a generator of ideas to resolve the impacts on the environment and therefore have an impact on public health, suggesting solutions to the pollution of water, air, soil, shelter, food and health and safety at work, helping to improve public health.
CONTENT
Content Basic principles of nature.
Identification of ecosystems as a functional unit of the nature.
Definition of terminology in environmental health.
Public Health Approach and Environmental Health, current concepts, fields of action, delimitation of functions, basic sanitation, communication of environmental risks and health.
The characteristics of the water, the different types of water for their study, the most common contaminants of water, the techniques of treatment of water for human consumption, the characteristics that must meet the wastewater discharges
Composition of air, air pollutants; chemical, biological, physical pollutants, the greenhouse effect, acid rain, the inversion, the urban heat island, ozone as a contaminant, health effects from air pollution.
Pollutants in the soil, waste management and its control, the disposal of waste, classification of hazardous waste, dangerous biological infections, the impact of waste on health.
The harmful fauna and its impact on the health and infrastructure, the prevention of zoonoses and their implications.
Decent housing and their sanitary specifications
Food safety, cross-contamination, food handling, Codex Alimentarius, food processing and good practices.

Applicability
Perform a diagnosis of a health condition since detecting damage to health until determining the risk factors and identifying the health resources to deal with the damage identified, in a population located in a social reality. Once the diagnosis has been made, the students will have the opportunity to prioritize the damage to health and to propose an alternative solution.
