Visual Appeal

On first inspection, the most striking

feature

of the Solus series is

its

smooth,

highly

sculpted

contour.

The oblate spheroid design motif

is

carried through from the top

cover

of the unit to its specially contoured

convex lens. In addition to being

an

exceptionally

pleasing

form, its shape

offers advantages

in its wind

resis-

tance

characteristics over bulkier cube

or cylindrical forms.

Glare

Control

Solus

offers

superior

glare

control

in

all of

its

distribution types, a critical

component of lighting

performance.

As

an example,

in a

candlepower

dis-

tribution chart of the industry standard

vertical lamp

Type V luminaire, there

is

a considerably

greater

amount of

light

projected

above 80 deg. than

with

Solus.

This light

is considered

"disability

glare"

in that it inhibits

visibility, rather than enhancing it.

Even

Again using the unique Solus

Square distribution, Solus

far more

illumination

at

greater

distance between

poles

than the

horizontal lamp cutoff luminaire.

The obvious advantage is

economy.

With the increased spacing
