WHAT'SINSIDE

With the first quarter of 2009 behind us,we now have the opportunity to betterjudge the impact of the global recession onthe Jebsen Group.

As we are very diversified in our productmix, the effects of the market slowdownhave not been identical throughout theGroup. This in itself is the strength of ourunique business model, and our four corebusiness units Consumer, Industrial, Beverageand Luxury therefore remain the veryfoundation of our Group.

Looking at some of our key businessactivities specifically: Camera sales have notbeen spared from the recession, but theunique position of Hong Kong as a significantdestination for Mainland tourists has

tempered the effects. To our advantage, watch sales have been a beneficiaryof the same phenomenon.

Blue Girl Beer continues to grow strongly in Hong Kong and we maintainour growth strategy for this brand in Taiwan and China. Meanwhile, wine sales have seen a more pronounced impact as there have beenless western visitors to Hong Kong and China.

Our motor business has been substantially affected by both the economicslowdown and consumption tax increase in China, but we are hopeful thatthe strong brand and unique products of Porsche will allow us to make uplost ground over the coming months.

The industrial business is experiencing a slowdown for new projects. However, the large stimulus package of the Chinese Government shouldallow renewed growth by the end of the year.

World events continue to cast a shadow over the business environment.Drawing on our first quarter performance, it seems unlikely that we willenjoy a fast and substantial recovery in our markets and things may actuallyget worse before they get better. Our emphasis must therefore be oncost control and risk management.

Nonetheless, as this is not the first recession the Group has had to dealwith, nor indeed will it be the last, we know we have the ability to weatherthe storm as long as members of our Group continue in their respectiveefforts in this regard.
