As we continue our journey of Cultural Transformation, I love the stories of our Common Purpose and the genuine kindness and caring that is displayed. Many of the words in our Common Purpose have special meaning individually and certainly when combined.

We make a difference for everyone by creating exceptional care and experiences from the heart … always.

One of the words that have resonated throughout the stories of our Common Purpose is that of “exceptional” care and experiences. What does “exceptional” really mean? Does it mean something different to each person who experiences it? Is it something you know when you experience, it but have trouble describing?

The Webster dictionary defines exceptional as “not usual, much better than average.” Synonyms are superior, outstanding, extraordinary, remarkable, special and phenomenal. This is why we feel “exceptional” when we see it.

Exceptional comes in many different packages. From patients outside the country who we have given food, medicine, transportation and genuine kindness and care to, to the patient who had concern about his yard needing mowed, so the nurse arranged to have it done for him. Each of these Common Purpose stories defines what exceptional means to both the patients and to us as the staff caring for our community.

As the gift that keeps giving, please be sure to thank and recognize your team members and friends for the everyday “exceptional” care that you observe. There is nothing that speaks louder than the recognition from those you work so closely with every day. Thank you all so very much for this exceptional care and experiences from the heart … always.
