The first release in this outstanding series honours theAustralian diggers of the First World War.
The Gallipoli or Dardanelles Campaign took place inthe Ottoman Empire between April 1915 and
January 1916. The operations consisted of a jointBritish and French mission to capture thecapital of Istanbul and secure a sea route toRussia.
On 25 April, at approximately 4.15am on astill spring night, with the sea mist rising, members of the Australian Imperial Force(AIF) landed at Gallipoli together with troopsfrom New Zealand, Britain, and France. It was
shortly after this landing that the highcommand realised that the men had
disembarked in the wrong position. Instead offacing the friendly
topography south of AnzacCove, they faced the
precipitous area of the north.
Inhospitable terrain, miserableconditions and horrendous casualties werecharacteristic of the campaign, whichended with the withdrawal of alliedtroops. For the Turkish people, Gallipoliwas a defining moment in their history.Likewise, the Gallipoli campaignresonated profoundly among Australians. The campaign marked the first majorbattle undertaken by the Australian andNew Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC)and is considered a landmarkin the development of theAustralian identity.
Anzac Day, April 25,remains a deeply significantcommemoration, honouringthe military service, suffering and sacrifice ofthose involved.

In 1788, Captain Arthur Phillip brought 751 convicts and 252 marines and theirfamilies to proclaim a new British colony in New SouthWales. Convicts transported to Australia providedskilled labour for the development of the newcolony - many were able farmers, shepherds brick-makers, carpenters, nurses, servants and cattlemen. After serving their term, they often became freesubjects.
The fledgling New South Wales population was soonaugmented with new settlements in Van Diemen’sLand, Norfolk Island, Rottnest Island, Moreton Bayand other destinations. These sites echo the profoundimpact of convict settlement in our national history.
In 2010, the Australian Convict Sites was inscribedon UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The property ismade up of 11 convict sites located across Australia. The list recognises places that are of “outstandinguniversal value” according to the World HeritageConvention.
The Convict Past Heritage Sites Collection will consistof six 1/25th Ounce 99.99% Pure Gold Proof coins. Thedesigns will show Port Arthur, Hyde Park Barracks,Fremantle Prison, Cascades Female Factory, Coal Mineshistoric site and Old Government House.
The first two coins, presented in the leatherette collectioncase, feature Port Arthur and the Hyde Park Barracks andare available now. Future issues will be released in Mayand September this year. Make sure you take advantage of our Coin-In service to ensure you receive all six coins in the series.

Port Arthur is the most wellknown property whereby itbegan as a penal settlement withnumerous industrial activitiessuch as ship building and flourmilling later of course becoming
a major tourist attraction.

Calico Jack Pirate DollarSince the first release of the $1 Blackbeard Coin, this seafaringseries on pirates has proved popular plunder for young collectors.John Rackham (Calico Jack) was born in England in 1682and was a moderately successful pirate in the Caribbean, whose alias reflected his fondness for striped calicobreeches. Charming and good-looking, Rackham ismost remembered for the design of his Jolly Rogerflag – a skull with crossed swords. He is also knownfor having two female crew members, Mary Read andAnne Bonny, which was unusual at that time. When Rackham’s ship was captured, the female pirates foughtto the last, while their drunkenshipmates surrendered feebly. Tried in Jamaica in 1720,Rackham and his men were hanged and posted in gibbets. The aluminium bronze coin depicts Calico Jack against thebackdrop of a pirate ship. The design depicts a colouredrepresentation of the Jolly Roger. In colour Pack.

Settled in the fourth millennium BC Luristan lies in what is now Iraq. The areawas more extensively settled in ancient times than it is now and a flourishingculture developed, despite the lack of a written language.Dating from the late bronze age, around 1000 BC, we offer original spearheads. These pieces measure 200mm in length and would originally have been attachedto a wooden shaft. An amazing piece of ancient weaponry for little more than thecost of a new release coin.

Khusru II Parvez (the Ever Victorious) was the 22nd Sassanid King of Persia. He was said to behaughty and cruel and had his father blinded, then murdered.
His reign was marked by ongoing wars involvingthe Byzantine Empire. In A.D. 614, the army ofKhusru II conquered Jerusalem. Thisconquest created a sensation, for Jerusalemwas Christianity's most important city. Itcontained innumerable holy relics, includingthe true cross that, it is believed, Jesus Christdied upon. The church that housed the truecross was burned to the ground but the truecross was fortunately saved. Apparently the Kingwanted to present it to his favorite wife, Sira, who was a devoutChristian!
These Silver Drachms show a Bearded bust right of Khusru II wearingwinged crowned with star and crescent between wings. The reversedepicts a fire altar, a symbol of the Zoroastrian religion, with anattendant either side leaning on long staffs.

Regarded somewhat as the poor cousin, Ireland struggled not only with self preservation but also a lack ofcurrency. Local issues were scant and English coins typically made up the majority of circulating coinage. However, Ireland’s own coinage is a most interesting series with unique designs and the ever-present Irishharp on many coins.
The first Scottish coins were produced during the reign of David I (1124-1153). It began with denominationssimilar to the prevailing standards of English coins and many Scottish coins circulated in England. The closerties with France initiated by the Stuart kings led to a great diversity of denominations, many based on Frenchequivalents, with designs that reflected growing French influence.
