So, You think thunder storms are no big deal, huh?

Well, Lola Bisignano of Broad Street in Hudson Falls

New York found out the hard way that they can be very

dangerous. It is not the thunder that causes damage, its

the lightening. On June 2 of this year Lolas house was

struck by lightning, which caused a fire that caused so

much damage the inside of the house had to be gutted

    and the roof replaced.

These pictures show the workmen of Adirondack Cus-

tom Homes removing the roof. Later they replaced theroof with new rafters, sheathing and shingles.

Lola purchased the property in 1981 and just last Spring

finished paying the mortgage. She was heartbroken!

Lola hopes to be in her refurbished home in early No-

vember. That would be a good Thanksgiving for her. We

    wish her all the best!

EXHIBIT-exhibition opened recently at the Washington County Historical Society: Stocking theGeneral Stores in Washington County, New York, 1900 to 1950. Changes in transportation aredocumented by period photographs and artifacts. Goods and services in the stores are discussed bylocal writers who also remembered or heard about railway and canal experiences. Shipments madetheir way up the Hudson, through the Champlain Canal and north to Lake Champlain or whenheading south to Albany, Troy or New York City. Containers had improved to accommodate largernumbers of goods and more efficient ways to dispense foods in the stores. Options in 1900 nowincluded wooden boxes, cloth bags, crates, barrels, kegs, tin bins, cans and, for home-use, scuttles andbaskets. There was no light-weight cardboard, no corrugated cardboard boxes, few brown paper bags,to say nothing of plastic! Conveyances varied according to size, weight, and distance which com-modities had to travel. Locally, some general stores would take orders and deliver in a day or two. Awagon or cart with horse could be rented by an individual or small business from a livery for local

travel. Within the county, stagecoaches could carry travelers and their baggage, smaller parcels, andsome mail. By using both the canal and, later, the railroad, general stores provided necessary anddesirable goods closer to home. Stocking the General Stores is open to the public at no charge onWednesdays and Fridays from 10:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M. through November. It is in the HeritageResearch Center at the Washington County Historical Society, 167 Broadway, Fort Edward, NewYork. For further information call 518-747-9108 or email [email protected].

    Reviewsby Breanna Fulper

Breanna Fulper, a financial advi-sor with Edward Jones has contrib-uted to the management and finan-cial strategy of many businessesaround the country and recentlyplanted roots in WashingtonCounty, NY. She will be located at 2

Church Street, Greenwich, NY once a few minor renovations arecomplete. This is an exciting time for me;I am getting married toReid Lundy, moving to his family dairy farm near Argyle, NY,and transitioning my business to the Greenwich community,Fulper said.I started my rewarding career as a financial advisorin my hometown of Lambertville, NJ and Im eager to develop

the same kind of relationships in Greenwich and the surroundingcommunities.

Fulper was very active in her hometown and volunteered count-less hours toward the success of the community.

I would like to mirror those efforts in my new communityand add value to Washington County. Fulper said.

She already is serving on the Greenwich Chamber of Com-merce Board of Directors, offering college education planningseminars at the local schools, and volunteering at the WhippleCity Festival.

Fulper naturally developed a strong work ethic from beingraised on her familys dairy farm and received her BachelorsDegree from Cornell University. These experiences led to herentrepreneurial style of financial management to provide thehighest level of service to help her clients achieve their financialgoals. Although she still considers herself a farm girl and plays animportant managerial role on her familys 104-year old dairyfarm, the drive and work ethic that was instilled in her at a youngage creates the foundation for her business creating long-termrelationships with her clients.

She is proud of her firm, Edward Jones for its reputation andrecognitions from prestigious organizations specializing in client

satisfaction and financial advice.I truly enjoy helping my retired clients create more income

and protect their hard-earned assets, working parents pay fortheir childrens college education and pre-retirees create a st rat-egy to boost their retirement savings and save money on taxes.

Fulper can create customized financial strategies for eachclients unique goals.

I chose to open my office in Greenwich because I love thesense of community, business-friendly regulations and the factthat its a hub for agricultural and professional services, Fulpersaid.I would like to express sincere appreciation to the manypeople in the community who have been welcoming and sup-portive of my move to Greenwich. If you are a client of minealready, I truly value and appreciate the confidence and trustyou have placed in me despite the fact that Im a new addition tothe community.

Fulper provides financial services for local individuals, fami-lies and businesses with a special niche working with agriculturalbusinesses, women, and retirees.

Consider Fulper as your local financial resource; a true farmgirl at heart who understands family and business dynamics andthe important financial decisions that need to be made. Fulper

can be reached on her cell at (315) 406-0731 until she receivesher Greenwich business phone number or e-mail her [email protected].

Stay tuned for her articles in this newspaper each month, whereshe will provide financial information and help keep us apprisedof topical and relevant financial strategies.
