Stray people only follow conjectures and guessings.

Some illiteratepeople among children of Israel who

have no knowledge of the Book

Most of them only follow conjectures; and surely conjecture can

be no substitute for truth. Allah is well aware of whatever they do.}}03

And If you obey the majority of those who live on earth, they willlead you away from Allah's path. They only follow idle fancies,

indulging in conjecture.}5{

They say: There is no life other than our present worldly life: herein

we live and we die, and it is only (the passage of) time that destroys

us. Yet the fact is that they know nothing about this and are only

conjecturing.

Polytheism has no reality, but these false beliefs that Allah

has partners are only conjectures and merely guessing.

Then there are among them (children of Israel) some illiterate

people who have no knowledge of the Book but depend upon

empty hopes and are guided by mere conjecture and guess-work.

}1}3 Verily whoever dwells in the heavens or the earth belongs to

Allah. Those who invoke others beside Allah, associating them as

partners with Him, only follow conjectures and are merely guessing.

6}5{ Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza,and about the

third deity, al-Manat? Are the males for you and for Him thefemales?That is indeed an unfair division!These are nothing but

names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which

Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following

their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has

come to them from their Lord.Doesman imagine that whateverhe wishes for is right for him?

Doomed are the conjecturers.

Those who do not believe in the Hereafter give angels the names of

females,although they have no knowledge regarding that. They only

follow their conjecture and conjecture can never take the place of

the Truth.}}57

Those who associate others with Allah as partners will now surelysay: 'Had Allah willed, neither we nor our forefathers would have

associated others as partners with Allah, nor would we have

declared anything (which Allah did not forbid) as forbidden.' Even so

those who had lived before them gave the lie (to the Truth) until

they tasted Our chastisement. Tell them: 'Have you any sure

knowledge that you can produce before us? In fact you are onlyfollowing idle fancies, merely conjecturing.'

On the Day of Judgment

)Let them not forget) that the Day when Allah will call unto

them, and say: "Where are those whom you imagined to be My

associates?"}7}5

)Let them bear in mind) that on that Day when He will call out to

them saying: "Where are My associates, those whom you

imagined to be so?" And from each people We shall draw a

witness, and shall say to them: "Do produce your evidencenow." Then they shall know that the Truth is with Allah alone,

and the lies which they had invented will forsake them.
