CAR SHOWS, CLASSIC CAR AUCTIONS, VINTAGE RACES AND AUTOMOBILIA EVENTS
Last year brought sunny days and wonderful afternoon breezes to the Monterey Peninsula, perfect conditions for visiting one or all of the unique car events that take place each August during the famed Monterey Car Week. A few new changes this year mean there is now more than one full week of public events to enjoy.
ROLEX MONTEREY MOTORSPORTS REUNIONThere have been some major changes at Mazda
Raceway (Laguna Seca Raceway). For years, General Racing delivered the Monterey Historic Races during the Pebble Beach Concours weekend attracting tens of thousands of spectators who love beautiful vintage and exotic cars but like them even more when they are in motion racing full-throttle around the curves of a race track. For the first time, SCRAMP is handling the racing component of the weekend and Rolex is still strongly supporting the weekend effort resulting in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. In response to enthusiasts who want to see more action on the track, the program has been expanded to 19 classes and a second day of practice has been added on Thursday giving fans four full days of racing action.
In Celebration of the 55th Anniversary of his first race, «Dan Gurney, the cars he raced-the cars he built» is this years race theme. Besides numerous Eagles, Dan Gurney's Cobra Daytona Coupe which he raced in the 1965 LeMans will be competing as will his 1960 Maserati Birdcage. It was this Camoradi race car that Stirling Moss, Carroll Shelby and Gurney all won races in.
Traditionally, the weekend prior to the «historic races» has been known as the «pre-historics», a private invitation-only event. This year, SCRAMP (Sports Car Racing Associate of the Monterey Peninsula) opens up

this event to the general public, now stretching the public event offerings over 10 days. Vintage Race Cars hit the track on Friday for qualifying. Races are held throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.
Event Hours: At the time of print, hours are still being determined for Friday, August 13 through Sunday, August 15, 2010. Please check the event website

THE CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA CONCOURS ON
THE AVENUE This has quickly become one of the most popular
events of the Monterey Car Week. Staged over 18 avenues of downtown Carmel, the Concours is free to the public and family-friendly. Beautiful cars are strategically positioned up and down the avenues and judged in a number of categories. Impressive awards from Tiffany are distributed in a beautiful setting reminiscent of a European village. This year, Multi Marques from 1940-1973 along with Porsche and Ferrari through 1989 will be featured. Ocean Avenue is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Visitors in town during this event will enjoy a special treat as they explore the storefronts to find each window decorated with a car theme. The shops enjoy a friendly competition of their own competing for the best display. Also, during this time frame, most shops offer unique items you will not find during any other time of year which makes shopping an added adventure.

AUTOMOBILIA MONTEREYINTERNATIONAL EXPO
2010 marks the 8th anniversary for what has become our favorite event of the Monterey Car Week. Held over two days in a hotel ballroom, Automobilia Monterey offers vendors who come from near and far to display all aspects of Automobilia such as rare hood ornaments, grill badges, rare event posters, model cars and more. People who frequent this event each year definitely come to shop as is evidenced by the number of bags and other items one sees visitors carrying away from the building. Guests come from all over the United States, Europe, Australia and beyond. This may be the single most significant gathering of Automobilia vendors anywhere and its fun to see the unique items that pop up each year. There will also be a silent auction in place throughout the event.

CONCORSO ITALIANO Initially launched at The Quail Resort in Carmel,
the Concorso Italiano was formed to corral Italian car enthusiasts in town for the Pebble Beach Concours weekend. Car club members representing marques such as Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo and more began gathering on Friday before the Sunday Concours event to show off their beautiful and unique vehicles on the driving range. Once Concorso Italiano became a public event, it skyrocketed to world-class status and became a must-do event while in Monterey. The event relocated to Black Horse Golf Course, then to a municipal airport and has been put back in a golf course setting, much to the satisfaction of the Italian car community. Expect a banner year as there is exceptional support from all Italian marques this year. Bring lots of cash. This is one of the most incredible gatherings of vendors around and you're certain to find a number of goods that interest you from clothing and jewelry to art and car accessories.
Event Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm on Friday, August 13, 2010
Event Location: Laguna Seca Golf Ranch on the Monterey Peninsula

THE QUAIL: A MOTORSPORTS GATHERING For years, Concorso Italiano was held at the Quail site. When the event relocated, The Quail management
was smart to offer an upscale event in its place. Tickets sell out in less than half hour and are limited. As a
result, the price is not a mild one. However, if you are fortunate enough to be counted amongst the ticket
holders, you will enjoy a pristine Concours-style event. Once inside, you will be privy to unlimited food and beverage from world class chefs, the finest wine and alcohol makers and more. The Quail manages to lure

SPORTS & CLASSICS OF MONTEREY-PRESENTED BY RM AUCTIONS
This is year 25 for the Monterey auction held at on the wharf in downtown Monterey amidst a backdrop of the Monterey Bay. RM does an outstanding job of displaying consigned vehicles both inside and outside the event and visitors can view most of the cars without actually attending the auction. A myriad of quaint shops and restaurants on the wharf only enhance the experience. We're always curious to see how many celebrities we can spot in the room as there are usually more than a few.

RETRO AUTOSeveral years ago, the Pebble Beach Concours
d’Elegance team began offering a a special exhibit known as Retro Auto. What started out as an Automobilia display has morphed into a display of all-things automotive including magazines, lifestyles products, car parts, artwork and more. The exhibit gives visitors one more thing to do while on the grounds that house the Concours d’Elegance and the Gooding & Company auction.
Event Dates: August 13-August 15, 2010 Event Location: At the Pebble Beach Concours
d’Elegance entrance in Pebble Beach, California Event Web Site: www.PebbleBeachConcours.com(831) 622-1700
PEBBLE BEACH CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance turns 60
this year and will forever be the focal point of the car week as invited collectors display their rolling works of art for all to see. This year, the Concours features Alfa Romeo, Pierce-Arrow and Jaguar and will celebrate the designs of Ghia. The event will also welcome Hot Rods, particularly “lakesters” and Bonneville racers, back to the show field, as well as Indy Cars and the second annual class of motorcycles will focus on classic American bikes built prior to 1960.
Internationally, Concours events work hard to emulate the ambiance, sophistication and quality of cars displayed on the fairway on the third Sunday each August. The body, undercarriage, interior and engine compartment of each vehicle are tediously scrutinized and judged against other examples in their class. Renowned experts give each car a once over like you’ve never seen with a goal of determining Best of Class and ultimately Best of Show.
The Concours also offers an impressive display of prototype cars and auto manufacturers typically show off the latest models for all to see. The cars are detailed to their greatest brilliance and the crowd is typically an attractive one donning fashion and eccentricity. This is one of the greatest spots for people-watching in the world! Bring your camera and don’t forget the batteries and charger!
Event Date: Field opens to spectators at 10:30 A.M. Sunday, August 15, 2010. Awards are presented from 1:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.
Event Location: The Lodge at Pebble Beach Ticket Fee: $150.00 in advance, $175.00 at the gate

GOODING & COMPANYGooding & Company hosts the prestigious Pebble

the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has concluded. The auction draws the most significant collectors from around the globe who come to buy and sell some of the finest examples of automobiles in the world. It is not unusual for celebrities to consign rare vehicles to this event and one can often spot a few networking the crowd. The Gooding style is strictly European with a very “proper” atmosphere compared to most auctions held in the USA.

ACCOMMODATIONS are many on the peninsula but most achieve 100% occupancy months in advance.
