WHAT FATHERS DO...

The traditional role of fathers has been to provide food and clothing, and sometimes,

even cars.

Fathers do other things too ... they spank harder than mothers. They throw balls, mow

yards, and clean gutters.

They can be grouchy when they come home from work tired, but they can be a lot of

fun too ... like when they swing you high over their head and catch you before you hit

the ground.

They are good at teaching you to ride bikes.

And they teach you to drive a car ... if they aren’t too worried about fenders.

They believe that their daughters are the prettiest girls in the world and they’re very

picky about who they date.

They usually don’t cry at weddings or when you go away, but sometimes they clear

their throat a lot.

Lord, thank you for fathers!

Enable them to make a few good rules -- and to enforce them consistently and fairly.

May they act in such a way that their children will feel wanted, needed and loved.

And help them set an example of Christian values for the entire family to follow.

THOSE IN NEED OF OUR PRAYERS Larry Alford had knee replacement surgery the 14th in Columbus, GA. Tiny Blankenship, Debbie Alford’s cousin, is fighting liver cancer in Birmingham. George & Mary Lucy Crapps are becoming more independent in that their care givers are only with them during the day. See Laurie Morris to help with meals. His recent MRI’s showed no further issues, which proved his tight tense muscles are the cause for his continued pain. He is seeing a Physical/Message Therapist and finding definite improvement. Keep James Pugh in prayer that he will come to know God in obedience. Sherry Wadsworth would appreciate cards of encouragement. Marie Ward is at home healing from her hip surgery and doing better. There will be a visitation from 9:30 to 11 am tomorrow, June 17th, at Leak Memory. A private family graveside will follow. In lieu of flowers, you may give to the UCC Building Fund.

Georgia Porter and family would like to thank everyone for all the love and support during her daughter’s (Tammy Brewer) passing. Every call, card and visit was greatly appreciated. No gesture was too small.

Thank you seems inadequate for all the prayers, calls, food, words of encouragement and other expressions of love and care. How wonderful to live and worship with such caring members of University church. We do thank you and pray that we and you continue to serve our Lord and Master in that sweet spirit of Love.
