Subject: Update on the Counseling and Advising Bldg (CB), Rockville Campus

Date: December 10, 2018

As you may recall, the Counseling and Advising Building at the Rockville Campus experienced significant damage this summer due to repeated water intrusion. As a result, the departments located on the first floor of the building: Disability Support Services, Public Safety, and the Maryland Veterans Administration Representative moved to alternate locations during the summer. See the table below.

Regarding departments on the second floor, Student Employment Services relocated to the South Campus Instruction Building on November 9, 2018. The Counseling and Advising Department will begin the moving process on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. The Department will be closed December 12th

– 14th to complete the move and will resume operations on Monday, December 17, 2018 in the Mannakee Building, Suite 220. See the table below for specific details on each office’s new location.

Once the Counseling and Advising Building (CB) has been vacated it will remain closed to the public.

Mannakee Parking/Transportation: The Mannakee Building is a short 3-5 minute walk from the Counseling and Advising Building (CB). A path to Mannakee Street is accessible from the right side of South Campus Instruction Building (SB). Limited parking is available in the Mannakee Building parking lot. Ample parking is available for students and employees in Lot 13 across the street from the Mannakee Building. The MC Shuttle also stops at the front of the Mannakee Building.

Publicity/Signage: Signage will be posted in strategic locations on the Rockville Campus and on the Montgomery College website. A directory indicating the new locations of all units will also be posted on the entrances to CB.

New Rockville Student Services Building: Once the New Rockville Student Services Building opens in January 2020 (projected date of completion), the displaced Student Affairs departments will move to their final permanent locations.
