Mayfield Heights Candidates Night

Thanks to Harlan Diamond who hosted the Mayoral and Council Candidates at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven on September 24th. Thanks also to John Swartz, MACC president, who was a great moderator keeping the evening very positive for all the candidates. Refreshments were served following the forum and this gave those in attendance a chance to meet and greet. Thanks to those chamber board members who gave a helping hand wherever needed; Donna Leseman, Marybeth Mack, Patti Bednar, Michael LaMarca and Jim Spring.

Page 3: MONTHLY CHAMBER PROGRAM: Cleveland Cavaliers “GO CAVS” · Cleveland Cavaliers “GO CAVS ... making some final edits, but if you’d like to see what we have so far you can pull

Jim mentioned earlier our thanks to all who where involved with the Mayfield Heights Candidate’s Forum. We had a great crowd of over 150 in the audience with two of the three candidates for Mayor and four of the six candidates for Council on the stage with me. It was my first time as Moderator and I was a little nervous as to how things would turn out. I mean we’ve had professional broadcasters fill that role every other time we hosted this event, but this time it came up on us rather quickly since we decided to do it before the voters received an absentee ballot in the mail. We just couldn’t get anyone to fill the role on short notice, so I was voted in. The one thing we wanted to change this time was to not have a debate between the candidates with punches and counter-punches between them. We wanted a more positive presentation from the candidates of what they intended to do for the city if they were elected to the position they sought. I’m happy to say that’s exactly how it turned out and we didn’t have any of the rancor or ill feelings that can come from a “debate”. If you have an interest in seeing the event, it was taped by the city and available on their web site (www.mayfieldheights.org ) under the Multimedia Tab.

Also, I’m finally able to report that our new web site is up and running. Jim is still working with ChamberMaster making some final edits, but if you’d like to see what we have so far you can pull it up using macc.chambermaster.com/contact/ .

Finally I wanted to let you know that I passed the 2 year mark and just had all my scans and chest x-rays last week and everything remains clear. Thanks for your past and continuing prayers. I appreciate all of the support that you all have show for me. Thank you!
