HIGHLIGHTS

I. Health care:

20 nos. Eye Camps using ‘Netrajyothi’ Mobile Eye care Van (provided by RINL-VSP),

were organized through Visakha Eye Hospital Trust during the month in peripheral villages

of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram districts. A total of 1292 patients have been tested and

233 suspected cataract cases were referred for surgery. 188 surgeries were done free of cost

by Visakha Eye Hospital, Visakhapatnam (Cumulative in this FY: Total camps: 126,

Tested: 11225, Ref.:1761, Surgeries performed: 1111).

Blankets and medicines were distributed to the HIV infected children of St. Josephs

Hospital, Prathipadu , East Godavari.

4 nos. of RO plants are installed under ‘Sujala Pathakam’ at Ramanaidupalem and

Rekavanipalem villages of Bheemili Mandal and Gunipudi and Cherlopalem villages of

Natavaram Mandal (Cumulative this year: 14)

II Promoting Education

Adult literacy classes through M/s Pratham Education Foundation are in progress in all

the 25 centres in 10 peripheral villages covering 625 adults.

III Empowerment

“Vocational Training Program” on driving ,tailoring, fabric painting etc, is being

carried out at Vadlapudi, Pedagantyada, Gangavaram & Aganampudi RH Colonies

covering 320 unemployed youth & women.

Skill development program for youth belonging to scheduled caste at surrounding areas

of VSP is taken up, through National Scheduled Caste Finance Development

Corporation (NSFDC). This program is intended to impart training in Garment

construction techniques and Industrial sewing machine operation for 200 beneficiaries.

Identification of beneficiaries is under progress by Apparel Training Division Centre

(ATDC), Visakhapatnam.

Nation-wide Sanitation/Cleanliness campaign

In line with the Govt. of India, directive, RINL has observed a Nation-wide

Sanitation/Cleanliness campaign from 25th Sep.’15 to 31st Oct. ’15 and the following

activities were carried out:

“Swachhta Jagruti”

Swachta Cycle rally was organized on 2nd Oct.2015 involving 300 students in

Ukkunagaram i.e. Township to renew thrust on Sanitation and hygiene and further spread the

awareness on Swachh Bharat Mission. CMD and Directors of RINL participated in the event

and flagged off the rally.

Swachhta ki aur RINL ka pehla Kadam” –A compilation of Swachh Bharat activities

at RINL was released by CMD & Directors to mark the successful completion of the first

year of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Bala Swachhta Jagruti:

Three Bala Swachhta Jagruti programmes were conducted in the following schools

located in the surrounding villages of Plant covering 213 children.

Awareness on Importance of sanitation was imparted to school children through audio

visual medium.

“Shram Daan “

Cleanliness drive involving the Top Management, employees and residents of

Ukkunagaram was organized in the Sector - 8 Shopping complex Ukkunagaram on 2nd

Oct.’15.Around 100 participants took part in the event and cleaned the shopping complex

area.

Cleanliness drives were organized in plant and office areas of Jaggayapeta Lime Stone Mines &

Madharam Dolomite Mines during the period.

Public Health departments have participated.

“Shram Daan “in the Communities

Cleanliness drives were conducted in peripheral villages of Plant i.e Gangavaram,

Aganampudi and Vadlapudi involving the beneficiaries of various CSR Projects namely

the Adult Literacy Programme and Vocational Training programme, wherein 150 women

participated.

‘Haritha Ukku’ - Plantation Drives were organized throughout the period, in the Plant and

Mines of RINL to reiterate its commitment towards the concern for environment. Glimpses

“Swachh Visakha”

Solid waste management is a key driver in ensuring the cleanliness of surroundings. As a part

of the Companies’ endeavor towards making Visakhapatnam clean, a project of providing big

dumber bins at various locations of Greater Visakha Muncipal Corporation has been taken up

to address the infrastructure needs of waste management.

A session on good hygiene practices was conducted for the benefit of the women residing in

the local villages. Further to inculcate hand washing habits, soaps were distributed to the

participants.
