Fellow Eagles, Thanksgiving is around the corner, so I'd like to take a moment to thank every-one who gives their time to our club, including our employees, Aerie and Auxiliary officers, volunteers and members. Your hard work and continued support is appreciated. Getting down to business, our dues expired at the end of October. Please read the information inside about paying your dues if you haven't done so yet. The Grand Aerie changed our expiration date to May 31st and you have a couple of options to choose from when paying them.

Also inside, please read about changes to our newsletter. Printing and postage have be-come very expensive and we were forced to

make some changes, in part because we feel the money could be put to good use elsewhere in our club. Finally, I'd like to wish everyone a Hap-py Thanksgiving. Stay safe if you're traveling to visit family or friends.

Fraternally yours, Worthy President Gary Smith

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

The next Meat Auction will be No-vember 13th at 7:30.

The Senior Thanksgiving Dinner will be on No-vember 22nd at 1pm. Please volunteer and donate for the Senior Members of our com-munity to have a wonderful dinner and fel-lowship.

That’s Amore for the kids cancer fundraiser will be held on November 7 at 5:30. Please help support this wonderful cause.

Congratulations to Dianne Krause for being elected to the position of Vice President.

We are still looking for a few more officers- Outside Guard and a Trus-

WEEKLY POOL TOURNAMENT

Payout Thank You! Thank You!

Oktoberfest was a sell out and a lot of fun, and it wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of Keith and Gin-ger Bruder and their team. They literally spent hours shop-ping for food, rolling rouladen and preparing other tasty dishes, setting up tables, cleaning up, etc. The Bruder's events are always a big hit with our members. We're al-ready looking forward to their next event – Mardi Gras – next February!

The November meetings will be November 1st and 15th at 2pm. Any child (ages 6-18) affili-

ated with a member may join. All JOE Members are required to attend the Senior Thanks-

giving Dinner on November 22nd at noon. Our Monthly bake sale for the State Youth Presi-

dent’s Charity “Yellow Ribbon for Suicide Prevention” will be November 20th from 5:30-8. All

donated baked goods will be greatly appreciated. We will also have bracelets and pins for

sale. Please come support this great cause.

Thank you, Connie Fink, Youth Adviser

Do you hate returning your cans and bottles for deposit? Well, if you do, you can donate them to support the J.O.E.

Also, remember to turn in your can tabs to the Eagles for Medical Dialysis.

JUNIOR ORDER OF EAGLES REPORTJUNIOR ORDER OF EAGLES REPORTJUNIOR ORDER OF EAGLES REPORT

CHANGES COMING TO THE NEWSLETTER Members, after much discussion and thought, we decided it was necessary to make changes to the newsletter. Printing and post-age are expensive (and postage continues to rise) and we really feel the thousands of dollars we spend on the newsletter each

year could be put to better use elsewhere. So, effective January 2016, you will have to choose one of the follow-ing options if you wish to continue to receive the newsletter:

1. Receive it by e-mail. Send your e-mail address to [email protected] and indicate you'd like us to e-

mail it to you each month. Please include your name and address so we can find you on our member roster.

2.Read it on our web page at WWW.FOE3996.COM. We will post it near the top of our main page where you can easily find

it each month.

3.Pick it up in the club. We will continue to print newsletters for those of you willing to pick it up; however, please send us

an e-mail note indicating you're willing to do that - or leave a note with the barmaid at the club telling us that (include your name). We need some idea of how many people are willing to pick it up so we know how many to print.

4. Pay $10 (a year) to receive it in the mail. We know some of you live out of the area or just prefer to get the news-

letter by mail, so we're making this option available to you. The $10 won't cover all of our expenses to produce and mail the newsletter to you, but it will defray them by about 80%. If you choose this option, please send a check made payable to the Van Buren Eagles #3996 to 9961 Beck Road, Belleville, MI 48111, Attn Aerie Secretary. Remember, starting January 2016, you won't receive a newsletter by mail anymore unless you choose option #4 above, and if you choose to receive it by e-mail or pick it up in the club, please follow the directions in option #1 and #3 above. If you plan to read it on our web page, no action is necessary. In this era of computers and the internet, we believe we can continue to provide information about the club through our web page and e-mail for the majority of our members, while still making it available affordably to members who prefer to receive it by mail. We also post club information on our Facebook page at Fraternal Order of Eagles Van Buren #3996. Thank you for your un-derstanding. Worthy President Gary Smith
