November-December 2019
Glenview Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Avenue, Glenview 60026 847/724-4793
A Note from the Director, Denise Blinick
This is my sixth fall season at the East Wing. It’s still seems like a surprise that summer ended so quickly and we are back in a very busy season here.
Our Veteran’s Day Celebration is the first up on November 6. This is a special morning and not to be missed. The Can-dy Cane Bazaar comes next on November 13 and 14. Come get some holiday shopping done with items from the craft room and over 25 independent vendors. The Holiday Luncheon, December 13 is always a beautiful affair at the Glen View Club in Golf. The atmosphere and holiday decorations are amazing, the food is always deli-cious and our entertainment this year is top notch. Don’t miss the New Year’s Luncheon this year on December 31 with the Glenview Concert Band entertaining us with Big Band Sounds. In January, we are bringing back a Chinese New Year Celebration for the Year of the Rat! It’s going to be a good year.
We enjoy seeing you here and with the weather cooling off, come in and relax with a warm cup of coffee or tea.
Thanks for being our friend and member,
Denise
The East Wing will be closed on:
November 28 & 29
December 24 & 25

Chinese New Year’s Eve Party, Year of the Rat!!
2020 brings the year of the Rat. Lunar new year is celebrated by a dozen countries in Asia, half of which don’t speak Chinese as the official language. What message does the Rat bring to this Asian audience? This presentation will explain not only why the Rat symbol is good, but also some common objects and symbols seen during the Chinese new year season such as the color red, firecrackers, dragon and lion dances, oranges, narcissus flower, and cabbages. Learn more about the Chinese saying that life begins at 60. Yvonne Wolf presents. Szechwan North caters.

This is a charming new offering in which our favorite Jane Austin-inspired characters prove that family, forgiveness and the true spirit of giving win the day. While the Bennetts and Darcys are celebrating upstairs, the servants below stairs find themselves in the midst of a holiday scandal in which old misunderstandings and new secrets arise to challenge the joy of the season.
