Pakistan Reading Project
Institute of Rural Management (IRM), in
partnership with the International Rescue
Committee (IRC), Creative Associates
International and World Learning, is
implementing a five year long USAID project
titled “Pakistan Reading Project (PRP)”. IRM
is the Lead Technical Partner (Materials
Development) at National level and Lead
Implementation Partner in Balochistan.
Progress for the month of January 2015
includes hiring of the staff for 5 Districts,
meeting of USAID & PRP management with
Secretary Education to brief him about the
changes brought through the re-modification
process in the PRP, issuing of notification letter
from Secretary Education for the Material
Review Committee, issuing of letter from
Additional Secretary Education to Director
Schools for the nomination of Mentors and
issuing of letter from Director schools to
districts Education officers of District Quetta,
Pishin, Killa Saifullah, Ziarat and Loralai for
the nomination of Mentors.
Livelihood Employment and Enterprise
Development – LEED
Institute of Rural Management (IRM) has
signed a project with PPAF, namely Livelihood
Employment and Enterprise Development –
LEED. The project aims to provide training to
2,605 target beneficiaries of D.G Khan and
Rajanpur, of them 2,127 are successfully
trained as of January 2015.
Activities for the month of January include the
training of 369 participants.
UN Home Based Worker Women Project
IRM signed three months project with UN. The
project aims to provide vocational training to
110 participants of Khushab from November
2014 to February 2015. All the targeted
beneficiaries are enrolled in following trades
and will graduate in February 2015;

Guddi Baji Project
The duration of Gudi Baji Project is from May
2014 to December 2016. In this project 5,700
women of Attock, Bhakkar, Bhalwal, Jand,
Jhelum, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin, Sohawa,
Mianwali, Talagang and Sargodha will be
trained in Beautician training. As of January
2015, a total of 1,217 women have successfully
been trained.
Southern Punjab Poverty Alleviation
Project
IRM signed Southern Punjab Poverty
Alleviation Project with Government of
Pakistan. Activities for the month of January
include the training of 422 participants; of
them 93 were from Bahawalpur, 190 from
Bahawalnagar, 82 from Rojhan and 57 were
from Jatoi.
Planning for the month of February 2015
IRM Sindh
IRM Sindh, in collaboration with Baanhn Beli,
provided forty day vocational training to 62
participants as of January 2015. Similarly IRM
Sindh in collaboration with NRSP, SAFWCO,
BRDS, AKPBSP and SPO provided 7 day
Training of Trainers on Adult Literacy and
Training of Trainers on Civic Rights to 26 and
77 participants respectively.
VTEC Rawalpindi
During the month of January 2015, IRM VTEC
Rawalpindi trained 369 participants in
different vocational trades under Livelihood
Employment and Enterprise Development
project.

building painter.
FATA-DA Entrepreneurship Training
The project's achievements for the month of
January 2015 include training of 225
participants rounding to the total achievement
of 990. This project aims to provide an
opportunity to the trained FATA youth, who
have gained experience through Field
Internship Programme, in setting up their own
business or getting employment.
Integrated Community Development
Initiative (ICDI)
IRM signed two months project, from
December 22, 2014 to February 20, 2015, with
Islamic Relief Pakistan. The project aims to
provide vocational skills training to the youth
of flood affected areas of District Charsadda
and Nowshera. As of January 2015, a total of
165 beneficiaries have graduated in different
vocational trades.

Bahawalpur and 100 participants of
Muzaffargarh.
Punjab Skills Development Fund– Skills for
Market
Punjab Skills Development Fund funded
another 'Skills for Market Phase-II' project to
IRM on the same terms and conditions as of
phase-I. The duration of Project is from
November 2014 to March 2015. A total of
1,000 women of district Bahawalpur have
successfully been trained as of January 2015.
Punjab Skills Development Fund– Skills for
Job
Punjab Skills Development Fund funded
“Skills for Job” project to IRM. Duration of the
project is from December 2014 to November
2015. A total of 180 beneficiaries of Sargodha,
Gujranwala, Lahore, Chiniot and Faisalabad
will be provided different vocational training.
