Women Health & Hygiene

The NSS units of Annai College of Arts & Science, Kumbakonam

organised a one day programme on Women Health and Hygiene on 19th

December 2012 at the college campus. The principal of the college, Dr. C.

Mani inaugurated the programme. Vice-Principal Dr. S. Ramalakshmi

explained about the role of women in the family and in the society. NSS

Programme Officer, Ms. R. Kalaiyarasi spoke about Menstrual Hygiene

Management among the girls students of the college. Earlier, NSS

Programme Officer Mr. Rajeev Gandhi welcomed the gathering. NSS

Volunteer Ms. Jothilakshmi proposed the Vote of Thanks.



Lecture about ‘Siddha’

The NSS Units of Adaikalamatha College, Thanjavur organised a one

day lecture about Siddha to the NSS Volunteers of the college at the college

campus.

All India Inter-University National Integration Youth Camp

The 15th All India Inter-University National Integration Youth Camp

was held at Jodhpur from 23rd to 27th December 2012. The camp was

organised by Foundation for Amity & National Solidarity (FANS), New Delhi

at Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur, at Raja Ram Ashram, Shikarpura.

Around 27 universities from 20 states from all over the country participated

in the camp. Total of 10 NSS Volunteers (5 Male & 5 Female) and 2 NSS

Programme Officers (1 Male & 1 female) as contingent leaders participated

in the programme. The participants are listed below:

Training of Trainers Programme (ToT)

Training of Trainers programme on Women Health exclusively for differently

abled persons jointly organised by the NSS cell of Bharathidasan University and

Centre for Differently Abled Persons of Bharathidasan University on 5th January

2013 at Academic Staff College Auditorium, BDU. Around 80 members were

participated and got intensive training on women health especially for differently

abled women.

24th Road Safety Week

The 24th Road Safety Week Celebration and appreciation of NSS Volunteers

and school students was held at Bishop Heber College on 7th January 2013.

Dr. K. Meena, Vice-Chancellor, Bharathidasan University was the chief guest

for the programme. In her keynote address she said “Awareness in the society is

possible only through the students, especially through NSS Volunteers, as they



take these things to the other students and to the village through their special

camping programme”.

Mr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Commissioner of Police, Trichy City delivered the

presidential address and also appreciated the activities and awareness created by

the NSS volunteers during their traffic awareness programme, which was held from

16th August to 15th September 2012 in the Trichy city.

Mr. S. Balasubramanian, Regional Transport Officer, Trichy, Mr. S.

Selvakumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police – Crime and Traffic, Trichy City, Dr.

D. Paul Dayabaran, Principal, Bishop Heber College, Trichy felicitated the NSS

Volunteers.

‘Certificate of Appreciation’ was presented to the NSS Volunteers for their

performances during the Traffic Awareness Programme which was held from 16th

August to 15th September 2012 in the Trichy city. Mr. S. Ponnumalai, Assistant

Commissioner of Police – North Range, Trichy City proposed the vote of thanks.

Earlier, Dr. L. Ganesan, NSS Coordinator, Bharathidasan University welcomed the

gathering.

Mr. Vigneshwaran, Assistant Commissioner of Police – South Range, Trichy

City, Professors from Bishop Heber College, NSS Programme Officers and NSS

Volunteers from various colleges, students and teachers from various schools

attended the programme.

Earlier a mega road safety awareness rally was held from Ayyappan Temple,

Cantonment to Bishop Heber College involving 800 NSS Volunteers from various

colleges of Trichy and 200 school students. The rally was inaugurated by the

Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, Dr. K. Meena and

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav I.P.S.

Women Health and Hygiene

The NSS Units of Dharmapuram Adhinam Arts College,

Mayiladuthurai organised a one day special lecture on ‘Women Health and

Hygiene’ on 9th January 2013 at the college campus. Mr. V. Ganapathy,

Coordinator, WISH and Mrs. G.K. Krishnaveni, Advisory Committee

Member, WISH were the resource persons for the programme.

As per the instruction of the NSS Regional Centre, Chennai, the NSS

Cell of Bharathidasan University in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra,

Trichy and Indian Red Cross Society, Trichy had celebrated the 150th Birth

Blood Group Identification and Blood donation programme

A blood group identification and blood donation camp was organised on

20.12.2012. Nearly 150 people got their blood group identified and 70 NSS

Volunteers donated their blood to the blood bank team from Government Hospital,

Perambalur.
