Deer Sir Regret the delay in answering your letter as it got sidetraced
in the office in town.
Would like to say that your letter describes the program of that date correctly; this wa :. a.special broadcast to promote the sale of war savings stamps.
The bundles of merchandise were donated by various flrms in the city and the Whole project was organized by the commercial travellers association of this city.
Might say that we raised close to $30,000.00 on that night.
Our daily Program schedule is as follows ; Mountain War Time
6;00;00 A..M. to 12;00;00 Mid. - Sundays - 7;45;00 A.M.
Due to present war conditions we are staying on the air to 1;00;00 A.M.
We intend to increase power to 5 KW in the near future instead of our present I KW. We hope you will receive our programs more regular then -
Dur rig is a Marconi 1 724 driven by a 1Q0 W unit of the same make. The Antenna is a vertical radiater 175 Ft high. Cround system consists of radials buried at 3 deg. over a circle of 500 ft. Oia. in a slough 500ft from xmtr.

March 9th, 1945.
Many thanks for your letter of March 1st reporting on your reception of our DX programme of that date, Our official card of verification is enclosed, It is un- fortunate that reception conditions were not the best, but for some reason we seem to invariably run into this condition when presenting a special DX programme,
For your information, Grange Prairie is located 110 air- line miles south -east of Peace River, which you may or may not be able to find on your map, and 250 airline miles north -west of Edmonton. The main industry in the Peace River country is not mining as you expected, but agriculture, We have one of the finest agricultural districts in Canada here in the Peace River country,
We are in the course of preparing a brochure on the history of CFGP and will have pleasure in forwarding one to you as soon as copies are available.
In closing let me assure you that it was a pleasure to
cooperate with the National Radio Club and we hope to be
able to do so again in the future.
Kind regards.

Studios: 520 First St., Medicine Hat, Alta.
Just this morning we received your report on reception of our DX of November 30th ayem. The details which you gave are correct in every respect.
There is absolutely no doubt that it was our station to which you were listening.
Accordingly, we are pleased to send you this letter of verification. We trust that this letter will be satisfactory, as we do not issue cards - in view of the fact that there is insufficient demand to have cards made specially.
CHAT is powered at 1,000 watts, and is fully equipped with R.C.A. gear. Our studios are the most modern in Western Canada. We have an exceptionally large Studio "A ", and two smaller studios, also two control rooms - identically equipped - either one of which can feed the transmitter at a moment's notice. Our second control room has re- cording equipment for two tables, and we are fully equipped for all types of remote broadcasting. Our staff numbers fifteen at the present time.
Ycu will be interested to know that we were operating directionally with a two tower array, the null directed south, and the major lobes of the pattern extending east and west! This is our normal pattern, and we did not change it for the DX, as this is against the De- partment cf Transport regulations.
Thanking you for your interest in our station, and best 73Is, we remain

As you probably know, our station is

Dear Sir:
Thank you very much for your interesting DX letter of September 14. 1952. I have checked it with our log and am pleased to report it is accurate.
CKXL normally operates 24 hours per day with an RCA 1 kw rig on 1140 kcs. We normally use two 200 foot towers oriented '35 decrees West of due North and our night -time directional pattern of signals are pulled in from the south -west to protect KDGM, Stockton, California and from the east -south -east to :protect WRVA, Richmond,Va.
At the time of your DX we were operating under a technical handicap by having only one tower in operation and there- fore we had to cut our power down to 250 watts, non - directional. You can see from this why we are very pleased to receive your DX report at this time.
I hope this confirmation will be sufficient for your files.

At present we are operating with only 100 watts power and it is with considerable interest we learn that you received our signal with greater strength than that of CHNS who at present are operating with an output of 1000 watts. 1952.
BROCKVILLE, ONT.
This was our first DX Special using our new transmitter, which has been in service since July 29,1952,we are especially pleased to receive reports at this time.
Our transmitter is an RCA BTA 250M,with a power output of 250 watts, feeding a vertical quarter wave tower, against a buried radial counterpoise.
Regarding your doubt about the accuracy of your times in your report: we got rather carried away up here with seeing what the new rig would do,so we stayed on till 0516 a.m.,not realizing that WTSA was trying for DX the same morning.
Incidentally,I haven't finished mapping all reports received, but I think yours will be the farthest received.
Many thanks for your interest and your report.Hope to put in a stronger signal next time. 73's for now.

Please accept my deepest apologies for not ansA ering until now your prompt report of our DX broadcast of January 19, 1952. At the moment I am in the process of design of a new Control Room and its associated equipment, and for this reason time is at a premium and only now have I got around to answering yours and other DX reports.
Your report quite agrees with our log for the night, although Mr. Bal- lantyne, my technician, misunderstood the time of transmission, and went on the air one half -hour later than scheduled and due to this more DX reports would have been received and vica versa, some that were receiv- ed would not have been received had we been on the air at the correct time.
Many thanks for your report, and I hope that this letter will serve as a verification for you and that at a later date we can go on the air again for you and other DX fans.

However, for your guidance I would like you to know that this transmitter uses the Armstrong method with certain improvements, is

Dear Sir:
I have received your report of reception dated June 6th and 7th.
?he report is correct, except that instead of being a news commentary from 10.15 to 10.20, it was a political speach on behalf of a candidate in the coming Canadian Federal Elections.
Your details for early morning reception are correct.
CHLT is operated by the french daily newspaper La Tribune of Sherbrooke, Cue. It is a bilingual station with 250 watts of transmit- ting power. The frequency is 1240 kcs. We are on the air from 7.25 a.m. ET'!T every day until 11.30 p.m.
On June 6th we had a bit of transmitter trouble which was repaired after operating hours. The music you heard from 2.34 to 2.38 am was a test.
Within a few months now we will change frequency and increase our power: i kw at 900 kcs. Should you hear us then we'll be glad to receive a word from you.

The Management of CKRN is proud to thank you for writing giving us your comments as attentive and interested listeners on our first DX experiment. The volume of letters received from all over Canada, the United States and even from remote villages make us indeed very happy as CKRN is hardly over a month old. His Worship Mayor J.O.Tardif of Rouyn, Managing Director of CKRN personally read and carefully noted each and every letter confirming our DX broadcast. The Mayor thought you might be interested in knowing more about Rouyn and its twin sister Noranda (one mile apart). Rouyn -Noranda have a joint population of ap- proximately 16,000. The famous Noranda Gold Mine alone employs 2500 men. There are no Reliefees here as everybody works. Rouyn -Noranda are at about an equal distance from Montreal or Toronto. Tourists come here via North -day, and after visiting the famous Canadian Dionne Quints at Callender, their next point of interest is Rouyn -Nor- anda, where visitors are welcome, and Hotel accomodation is sec d to none. Again thanking you for your wonderful enco g coo .eration, we re

Thank you for your communication of recent date concerning
the fact that you picked up a portion of our sign -off Christmas morning. This will confirm the fact that what you heard is correct except that the name is "Priestly" not "Pressin" and, as you might be tempted to enquire as others have done, there is
no known relationship to "J.B.Priestly" the English writer and BBC commentator.
It may interest you to know that S. R. Morss, R -3, Bradford, Mass.,
and Ralph M. Johans, 364 Elm St., Buffalo, N.Y., also heard a portion of the same sign-off.
Yours very truly,
