arbitration proceedings with Lum Chang Building Contractors Pte Ltd (“LCBC”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lum Chang Holdings Limited over a dispute relating to the construction and piling works in two zones, i.e. Zone 2 and Zone 6, for Downtown Line Stage 2 located at Upper Bukit Timah / Woodlands Road (“the Sub-Contracts”). (Closing price: S$ 0.116, -%) Further to the announcements made on 19 July 2013, 5 August 2013 and 29 August 2013, Zhongmin Baihui Retail Group Ltd. (the
“Company”) is pleased to announce that the Shareholders’ approval for the Proposed Transfer had been obtained at the Extraord inary General Meeting of the Company held on 29 August 2013. (Closing price: S$ 1.710, -%) Keppel REIT Management Limited (the “Manager”), as the Manager of Keppel REIT, announced that Moody’s Investors Services (“Moody’s”)
has upgraded Keppel REIT’s corporate family rating to Baa2 with a stable outlook. In Moody’s announcement yesterday, they have assigned the improved rating based on Keppel REIT’s enlarged and quality asset portfolio in Singapore and Australia; strong operating performance; as well as proactive capital management, which minimises its refinancing risk for the next 12 to 18 months. Moody’s upgrade also focused on Keppel REIT’s ability to continue pursuing its long-term growth plan while maintaining leverage of between 40% and 45%. The Manager’s proactive capital management, as evidenced by its early refinancing of all debt maturing in 2013 and 60% of borrowings due in 2014, as at end-June 2013, also supported the upgrade. Keppel REIT has also obtained funds at low interest rates, allowing the trust to maintain a high interest coverage ratio of approximately 6.2x as at end-June 2013. The median forecast of 79 economists surveyed by Bloomberg projected a 2.2 percent gain. - Bench mark 10-yr yields rose as the economy grew at a 2.5 percent annual pace in the second quarter, more than forecast and up from the previous estimate of 1.7 percent. The reports boosted speculation the Federal Reserve will reduce the pace of bond purchases as soon as next month. The U.S. plans to auction $29 billion of seven-year debt after a sale of five-year notes yesterday drew the least demand in four years. - Jobless claims in the week ended Aug. 24 dropped 6,000 to 331,000 from a revised 337,000 the week before that was higher than initially reported. The median forecast of 50 economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for a drop to 332,000. Eurozone:
Italy’s 10-year yield dropped two basis points, or 0.02 percentage point, to 4.39 percent after climbing to 4.48 percent yesterday, the highest since July 18. The number of Germans out of work increased by 7,000 to 2.95 million. The adjusted jobless rate stayed at 6.8 percent after falling to 6.7 percent in May 2012, the lowest since Bloomberg started to compile the data in 1991. Philippine’s economy expanded 7.5% over a year in Q2 2013, resilient against the regional slowdown and matching China’s second
quarter’s GDP growth. With GDP growth held up above 7% for the fourth consecutive quarter as President Benigno Aquino boosts spending, Philippine remains as one of Asia’s best performers, according to Bloomberg. The Philippines is “likely to surpass its 2013 growth target” of 6% - 7%, said Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan. The nation aims to increase infrastructure spending to 25% of its budget, said Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima. After two months, the Indonesian central bank again raised the benchmark interest rates to 7.0% from 6.5%, in an attempt to defend the
