Global stocks recover slightly from
trade fight damage: - (Reuters) -
General Electric Co and U.S. technology
shares rose on Tuesday, helping global
stock markets regain ground a day after
a mounting trade fight between the
United States and other top world
economies chased investors into safe-
haven assets.
Forex - Dollar Rises to Day’s Highs
as Demand Creeps Back in: - The
dollar rose to the day’s highs against a
currency basket on Tuesday as market
sentiment recovered a day after
mounting trade tensions sparked a
selloff in risky assets. The greenback
had been pressured lower as long-term
U.S. Treasury yields slid amid
heightened risk aversion in financial
markets. Markets regained composure
after remarks by White House trade
adviser Peter Navarro Monday helped
ease some investor concerns about U.S.
trade policy.
Oil Prices Rise as U.S. Wants to
Expand Energy Knowledge: - Crude
oil prices were higher on Tuesday, amid
uncertainty over Libyan exports and
Canadian production losses as the U.S.
said it wants to help allies replicate its
oil production boom. The price of oil was
also driven higher after Eastern Libyan
commander Khalifa Haftar's forces gave
control of oil ports to the National Oil
Corporation (NOC) based in the
country's east. The official state-owned
oil company will no longer be allowed to
handle oil, increasing risk that oil output
could stop.
Gold Prices Hover Near 6-Month Low
as Dollar Strengthens, Fed Speakers
on Tap: - Gold prices headed lower for
a second consecutive session in mid-
morning trade on Tuesday, hitting a six-
month low, as the dollar moved higher
and investors waited for appearances from
