June 22-26, 2014 6-8:30pm I am so excited for VBS! Watching the rooms get decorated. Getting the supplies. Seeing the
registrations. And then on the first night hearing the exciting and the family life center and the
church come alive with kids, parents, volunteers for 5 days of playing, learning and growing in
Jesus! How awesome is that?!?!
Listed below is our daily breakdown where the kids will learn through, crafts, music, missions,
story time, recreation, meals and just plain fellowship that no matter who we are, what we look
lie, where we live, Jesus loves us NO MATTER WHAT!!!!
Please keep us in your prayers this week as we are setting up and the week after for the VBS zoo-
wagon to arrive! Thanks in advance!
Sunday - Bible Point: Even when you’re left out…Jesus loves you!
Key Verse: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

Monday - Bible Point: Even though you’re different…Jesus loves you!
Key Verse: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ
Jesus.” Ephesians 2:10
Bible Story: Jesus reaches out to a Samaritan woman. John 4:1-30
Tuesday - Bible Point: Even when you don’t understand…Jesus loves you!
Key Verse: “Do to others as you would like them to do to you.” Luke 6:31
Bible Story: Jesus washes the disciple’s feet. John 13:1-17
Weds. - Bible Point: Even though you do wrong…Jesus loves you!

sins.” 1 John 4:10

Thursday- is our closing program with the families. The kids sing their songs, we have a
meal together and then we have the Walkertown Fire and Rescue provide the
water for water-palooza!
The devotion on Thursday will reflect the Bible Point: Even when you are afraid…Jesus loves you!
Key Verse: “Don’t be afraid…take courage. I am here!” Matthew 14:27.

PRE-REGISTRATION for VBS is OPEN!
Sign-up now at www.morrischapel.org. Registration information and registration links are located on the bottom of the
main home screen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During VBS, each child will be making a “Blessing Bag for the Homeless” at the Missions Station to be passed out at the Bethesda Center in August by the Children’s
Department. One item that we are in need of for each bag are washcloths. We would like to ask families to
consider donating new, inexpensive washcloths to this mission project. They can be placed in a box outside Sam’s door
labeled “VBS Washcloths.” We are anticipating to have over 100 kids this year at VBS. Thanks for all you do to support the mission work of our children!
WEIRD ANIMALS VBS MISSIONS CHALLENGE!
We are having a dual challenge between the boys and girls of VBS to see which group can bring the most canned foods and school supplies. The food collected will be donated to the Morris Chapel food pantry and the school supplies will be taken to children in Bluefields, Jamaica later this summer. School Supplies to be collected:
Pencils Erasers Sharpeners Back packs Childrens books for ages 3-5 Washcloths Toothbrushes Toothpaste So the challenge is set! Each night we will see which group will raise the roof!
Dear Morris Chapel Family,
Thank you all of the Morris Chapel
Church Family for the prayers, cards,
flowers, food and many acts of kindness
during my recent illness and surgeries.
You all have been so good to me.
May God bless each of you!
Wilma Waddell
Special Thanks
Dear Morris Chapel,
Words cannot express the gratitude I have for the home you’ve given me growing up. I’ve been blessed to have a beautiful family
and church family. I couldn’t have had a more wonderful
upbringing, and Morris Chapel has had so much to do with that.
Thank you.
Love,
Caitlin Thomas
We are looking for VBS Prayer Warriors to pray for before and during VBS, which is June 22-26. All you need to do is during your prayer time to pray for our volunteers and kids who will be attending. That everyone who encounters our VBS will know the love Christ has for them, that Jesus’ love is one of a kind, an unconditional kind!
Three easy steps…
1) If you are interested please go to our website, www.morrischapel.org, on the homepage click the “click here button to pre-register your child” which is towards the bottom of the page.
2) You will be redirected to the Morris Chapel Weird Animals webpage,
click on “Volunteer Registration”
3) Click on “apply” next to Prayer Warrior and fill out the form.
That’s it and once you have registered, I will send you a little prayer card
reminder…if you do not have access to the internet, just let me know you are interested.
Thanks in advance, Sam
Girl Scout Gold Award Project by Sarah Joyce
Homeless teenagers not having adequate clothing for school and work is a problem
that could be easily remedied. Clothing is a basic need and should not be something
that teenagers should have to worry about. I want to help them get the clothes they
need to have a more successful life. Can you help?
Donations of nice clean clothes that teenagers can wear are needed. Please place
donations in the green bins in the hallways outside of the FLC and Chapel. Volunteers to
help sort the clothes and facilitate the closet will also be needed in the near future. For more information, please contact:
Dan Lyons: (336) 595-8101;
Sarah Joyce: (336) 830-5038
Thank You!
The United Methodist Women are still collecting clothes
for Armenia. Mr. Johnson says they especially need
children’s clothing. The winters are very cold and we
need to remember this. Please put your contributions in
the Vanhoy / Williams Sunday School classroom.
Thank you,
Mission Collection
It is hard to image that Gift of Grace is just 6 months away. There is still much to collect for Gift of Grace. Gift of Grace has been blessed this week. I have received around 150 pair of jean from Wrangler to go for the Gifts of Grace. Even with this donation we have a long way to go. We had 290 children that we serve last year. We are planning for the same amount of families, which was 110 families. This year, we will limit to surrounding zip code to serve our community.
Upcoming event is "Christmas in July". We will have two trees set up at the church for suggested gifts for age and gender. The price limit will be from $10 to $20 for each gift. Our planned is to give each child an age appropriate gift from $10 to $20. Teens will receive gift cards. Please keep this in mind when you are shopping and come across a great bargain in toys, clothes, etc.
Just a reminder, we are receiving gently used clothes, household sheets, blankets, towels, bed comfort sets, and toys ONLY. Please place in blue bucket outside Chapel or Faith in Action classroom. If you have any question or would like to help in anyway please called Sharon Burnette 306-2450.
Thank you,
Gifts of Grace Committee
Music Notes Del Curling—Director of Music Ministries
Youth Music News
• Any youth wishing to participate musically (solo or small ensembles) in any of our
worship services during these coming summer months, please see Del. He is happy to
help you with music, practice, accompaniment tracks, etc.
• Plans are evolving for a regular practice time for youth to work regularly on worship
music in a combined choir/band format, likely to begin in the fall.
Adult Music News
• The adult Chancel Choir meets every Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 pm in the choir room.
We are presently working on special music for Father’s Day, and the summer months.
Childcare is now provided during the choir practice time, coordinated by Sam.
• Chancel Choir will continue to practice on Wednesdays through the summer, though
will take an occasional break, with the first coming up after Father’s Day and before the
4th—no practice on June 25th and July 2nd.
• The Men’s Chorus continues to meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday evenings at 7pm—all
men of MCUMC are invited to join in this time of music and fellowship.
Miscellaneous
Anyone wishing to participate in worship by presenting a vocal or instrumental solo or small
ensemble piece in the coming weeks/months at one or more of the worship services, please
contact Del—others are always encouraged to participate/lead musically in worship, even if
unable to commit to a group that meets regularly. The “gathering music” time before the
11am service is a particularly good time for young or developing musicians to share their
talents and get used to presenting music to a group in a relatively low stress environment.
Music Ministry
Over the next two weeks, we will sponsor a Love Offering for Katie Gaffner our previous Youth
Minister. If you would like to contribute, place your contribution in an offering envelope and
designate for “Katie Gaffner Love Offering”.
The cut off for this special offering is Sunday June 22nd.
Thank you,
SPRC Committee
