President’s Report
Hi Everyone,
Thank you to all those that turned up at Cambooya it was another excellent day, well at
least I thought so and it was really good to catch up with a lot of members again. I think
about 38 people were grouped around the verandah. Luckily we missed the worst of the
heat, Jacqui tells me it was 45.2 celsius last Sunday. I was out west as usual and suffering in similar heat. For
those that saw the new truck (1926 Morris) either said WHY? or good on you. As usual another one has now
turned up, check out the Shannon’s Auction next Monday and you can see what one looks like fully
restored. Next week I’m in Atlanta, Georgia and then down to South Australia for a week before going back
to Chinchilla, so I won’t be at the March run, but please participate and enjoy yourselves.
Keith is looking for articles on what you are doing with your car, so please help him out and send him an
article. We also need help with sponsorship or gifts to go in the 2018 Rally bags, can you help?
Lastly and most importantly, our best wishes to Allan Klein, get well soon.

Saturday, 17th June, 2017 the Caboolture Regional Car Club will be conducting a 'Mega Swap Meet Show & Shine'. This year, we will be focusing wholly and solely on automotive, eg: cars, bikes, trucks & machinery. The 'swap meet' will be monitored to ensure all stalls will monitored to contain new and used parts and no general flea market and bric-a-brac will be allowed. We cater for overnight camping as well for those wishing to catch the early bird on Friday afternoon at very special rates. Gates open for entry to the public at 6.00am. October Invitational Run
LAMA’s Annual Invitational Run is run on the first full weekend of October each year. It will be LAMA’s 25th anniversary as a club so it will be an extra special celebration. Please check your accommodation bookings for the long weekend will have to change the booking. Our new motel should be operational early in the New Year and this will alleviate the problem of accommodation for a while. Further information contact Elise Pakeman (Secretary)
In the December Fraser Flyer newsletter all early entry registrations went into the draw for a 2 x night holiday at Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island.

We’re on the home stretch now and by the time 2018 comes around everything should be in place or thereabouts. Those of you who are considering attending need to think about it seriously as accommodation needs to be booked as it gets very busy. Fraser Coast has many attractions and living here is just like having a holiday, a leisurely pace, take a walk to the beach, choose a spot under a foreshore tree and have a BBQ, or take a drive, a cruise, a coach around Fraser Island…..always something going on.
At date of printing we have 65 entrants and have just been told there are 12 entrants! coming from the Brisbane Southside Morris Minor Club, a HUGE effort, well done!. Don’t forget the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games are on. It’s all happening in Queensland. Come, stay for a week, enjoy the rally, and afterwards drive the 4½hours to the Gold Coast. The Games start on 4 April 2018 to 15 April 2018 It is worth noting there is a double highway from just south of Gympie to Ballina, NSW. A distance of 350kms. With all the road work development going on it could even get better. Travel distance Hervey Bay to Gold Coast (Southport) is 360kms with a travel time of 4 hours as per the distance calculator. Older restoration being a Morris Register of Queensland club car for over 30 years. Work in the last 5 years completed by a qualified motor mechanic (and club member) – full overhaul and rebuild of motor and fitted with bypass oil filter, brakes renewed, rear axle housings fitted with modern bearings, gearbox and clutch checked. Fitted with a new SU fuel pump as well as 4 new Firestone tyres recently. A few spares and a set of wide rims included. She Is a very reliable old girl. Owner no longer capable of maintaining and older car. Currently on club rego Q568-880 (not included) No RWC $8,500.
