Valuable information was relayed to Catoosa P.D. which initiated their involvement within their jurisdiction. Their officers gave chase and TPD was then notified and a request for assistance was received. The chase led officers to North Tulsa where they ditched the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded field. From there our K-9 tracked them down and officers were able to safely apprehend the driver of the vehicle. Hard Hitting Detective Work!

ALH

What has been the most unusual or interesting case you've had as a detective? Most interesting case involved an embezzlement I worked, where the suspect embezzled over $63,000 dollars from her employer. The suspect was convicted and received a deferred sentence. What’s unusual about the case is that as soon as she received her deferred sentence, the suspect immediately went to work for another company and start embezzling right away. The suspect went right in and paid her restitution and even paid her attorney fees with the new company’s business check. The company didn’t uncover the embezzlement until the suspect had embezzled over $350,000. Now hopefully this time the suspect will receive some prison time.

What is your most rewarding experience? Unfortunately, property crimes do not get the same attention in the judicial system as people crimes so there are many cases we get convictions on but a lot of the time the punishment does not involve jail time. So my most rewarding experience is getting a chance to get a conviction on those repeat offenders and finally seeing them serve prison time.

The Sex Crime Unit Detectives have been busy these last few weeks! Willis McPherson, 25, also known as Willis Sisco was arrested by Field Officers on February 20th after going on a crime spree the few days leading up to his arrest.

Four days earlier, on Thursday, February 16th at 630 am, a 19 year old female was attacked while jogging at LaFortune Park. Investigators say there were multiple witnesses who were also approached by a person matching the victim's description. During this time, McPherson was not considered a suspect given that he had no history of sexual assaults.

Later that same night, McPherson allegedly stole a vehicle which led to a serious accident on the Broken Arrow Expressway. Auto Theft detectives were following up with an arrest warrant when he was released from the hospital; that warrant is still pending by the DA's office.

Still recovering from his head injuries, McPherson allegedly assaulted and raped a woman after he pushed his way into her apartment on Sunday evening. McPherson and the victim were acquaintances which helped in her positively ID'ing him as her attacker.

Each Sex Crime Detective and Crime Scene Detective Margaret Loveall worked extensively on this investigation, all of which led them to Willis McPherson as the suspect in the LaFortune Rape Case. Currently he has been charged with 8 different sexual assault charges with the possibility of more charges being added. He currently has a bond of $224,000.

When Sanders was apprehended by RID Field Officers, he was found to be in possession of items taken from these businesses, as well as wads of cash tucked into his boxer shorts. He denied any knowledge of the crimes.

Steven Sanders is in custody and charged with 3 counts of Second Degree Burglary, and 1 count of Attempted Second Degree Burglary. His bond has been set at $800,000.

Early Wednesday morning, the Burglary Detectives' long investigation and recent surveillance led to the apprehension and arrest of a well known serial commercial burglary suspect, Steven Sanders. According to detectives, 28 year old Sanders is connected to over 30 burglaries with a majority of them being commercial businesses. The most recent string of burglaries were in the area of 61st and Garnett.
