Metal Fiber Filters in thePE/PP Polymerization Process
Description:
Automatic cleanable sintered metal fiber
filters offer an economical solution. The
development of metal fiber filter media
such as Bekipor contributes to an
increased quality level through a
long on-stream life resulting in lesshazardous maintenance.
This long on-stream life is accomplished
by surface filtration with a high-porosity
filtration media. The surface filtration is
achieved by using a thin top layer of very
fine fibers. All particles are kept outside
the media forming a cake on the top
layer of the surface. This dust cake can
easily be removed by frequent jet-pulsing.
The metal fiber filter has a high porosity (up to
85%) offering a uniform distribution of blowback
gas during jet pulse. In addition, the energy of the jet pulse is not lost
inside the media resulting in an excellent cleaning system.
Due to the depth structure of the currently used fabric filters, reactivecatalyst particles are trapped inside resulting in rapid polymerization
and clogging of the filter media. Surface filtration with sintered metal
fibers and high, frequent cleaning by jet pulse can avoid this problem.
