Read the following passage(a) A certain man was going from Jerusalem to Jericho and he fell among robbers who both stripped him, beat him and departed leaving him half dead. And by chance a certain priest was going down that way and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. VI. Read the following passage carefully:Plants have many use for man. They supply us with food and shelter, with fuel and chemicals. People and animals need to breathe oxygen to live. Where does the oxygen come from? Plants take in the carbon dioxide that people and oxygen. In this way , the amount of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the air remains the same.

We eat almost all parts of the plant. We eat roots ( carrots) , leaves ( spinach ), flowers ( cauliflower), fruits ( mangoes) and seeds ( rice , wheat ). The oil that we use for cooking comes from peanuts, corn and Sunflowers.

Do you enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee in the morning? Or do you like a glass of cold fruit juice instead? Coffee and cocoa are made from the seeds of small trees and tea is made from the leaves of small bushes. Oranges and lemons, when pressed , give us juice wine is made from grapes.

Trees are valuable for their wood as well. We get two kinds of wood from trees – soft woods and hard woods. Soft woods , such as pines and furs, are mostly used to make paper. The hard woods include teak and rosewood, which are used for making houses and furniture and for many other things.
