Niassaland Safaris LDA Francisco Manyanga Avenida 25 de Junho, Tete Tete, Mozambique
Mozambique – untrammeled Africa
SafariBwana offers trophy hunting based on sound ethical principles in the field while pursuing the many indigenous
species Mozambique has to offer. Our goal is to provide a hunting experience which is a challenge of skill, energy
and perseverance; the reward of a trophy being the conclusion to a successful hunt and not the only measure. Our
business is based upon family tradition and knowledge, bringing you a safari that is not only true to African ways but
also considers the natural balance of our concessions and their relation to the local communities.
NiassaLand Safaris LDA is the Mozambique subsidiary of SafariBwana, a newly established safari operator with
diverse strengths, able to cater not only to the serious hunter but also to his family and the adventure seeker who
wants to experience Mozambique in its entirety. Not only do we offer classical hunting but we strive to combine this
with the best of the country's sights, beaches, big game fishing, culture and history.
Mozambique is the classic Africa of old, vast concessions in extreme conditions – remote and untouched – with
dangerous game trophies which are nothing short of spectacular. Despite a rough start to the Safari industry in this
country, reliable and trusted operators are now gaining a foothold and we are pleased to offer this piece of old Africa
to our clients without reserve or hesitation.
We invite you to join our safari family on the adventure of a lifetime to one of Africa’s undiscovered hunting
destinations – Mozambique
NiassaLand Safaris Hunting Reserve - Mozambique
We are extremely pleased to announce the newest addition to our hunting portfolio in Mozambique, a 160,000 acre
hunting reserve, in the heart of big game country in the north western part of the country. Lying in the foothills of
the Luangwa and Zambezi valleys, this area consists of Miombo forests interspersed with Mopani woodland and
open grasslands which support a healthy family of big game species. These include the big boys – Lion, Elephant,
Leopard and Buffalo as well as Roan, Sable, Kudu, Eland, Lichtensteins Hartebeest, common Waterbuck, chobe
Bushbuck, Impala, Reedbuck, common and red duiker, Bushpig, Warthog, Hippo, Crocodile and Hyena.

Over in Mozambique, subscriber Mike Daley took a gorgeous MGM-quality lion with a 25-inch skull while
hunting with Pete Swanepoel. You may know Swanepoel from his SafariBwana operation in Zambia. Seems
Swanepoel has partnered with Graham Cawood to create a new Mozambique operation called NiassaLand Safaris.
They are hunting near Chifundi, about a 3½-hour drive out of Tete. Daley writes of the area, “We found some great
potential for big game there. The area is big with a government concession connecting to it. We were on an
exploratory hunt and got to see lots of new territory and have a true African experience. We saw 60- to 80-pound
elephant, big leopard, excellent plains game and plenty of sign from another big lion in the area. We had lions near
camp at night, along with leopards and elephant. Twenty-one elephants walked past us while we sat in the lion blind.
“We were building roads while exploring and found a great area along the river, where we saw lots of different game,
including hartebeest, bushbuck, impala and enough roan, kudu and klipspringer to make one drool! We also spotted
Sharpe’s grysbok in broad daylight and warthogs. There was sign of sable and buffalo, although we did not spot any.
And there were lots of crocodiles in the river.” Daley says there is some poaching in the area and that Swanepoel and
Cawood are working with the local game scouts and villages to get it under control. “I had a great time, and know, as
they continue to develop this area, it is only going to get better,” concludes Daley. In addition to the lion, Daley also
took a steenbok, hyena, 54-inch kudu, a warthog and a Sharpe’s grysbok. He says they also had a leopard on bait but
were unable to connect with him.
