Goal:To focus on evidence based information concerning pathogenesis, diagnosis and clinical management.

Target Audience:This activity is specifically designed for oral and maxillofacial surgeons and residents.

Learning Objectives:At the conclusion of this refresher course the participant should be able to use the most current methods to demonstrate evaluation, management and treatment of complications of: orthognathic surgery, obstructive sleep apnea; maxillofacial trauma; patient assessment for primary cosmetic surgery; principles of advanced soft tissue preprosthetic surgery and implant reconstruction; dentoalveolar surgery; classification, incidence, etiology and embryology of cleft lip and palate; pathophysiology and strategies of the medically-compromised patient; clinical and microscopic characteristics of oral lesions; bone-grafting principles and surgical techniques of hard and soft tissue reconstruction; core concepts of anesthesia care; diagnosis of temporomandibular joint disorders; bacteriology, immunology, antibiotics, anatomy and surgical management of infections of the head and neck.

Accreditation:CDE: The University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine is an ADA CERP Recog nized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.

CME: The University of Colorado School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
