WHAT ARE THE COMMON CORE STANDARDS?
The Common Core State Standards Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). Created by teachers,
parents, education experts and others from across the country, the Standards provide clear, consistent
expectations for what students should be learning at each grade in order to be prepared for college
and career.
