Academic Assignment Plan All conduct marks are recorded on the conduct sheet left in the binder. A tracking form is started with the 4 th incomplete assignment. Once on the tracking form, missed assignments are recorded up to 4 more, then the student is sent to the office. Separate forms are given for behavior and academic marks.

Fifth Grade

Conduct form is in student’s binder Student is given a verbal warning Conduct checks are recorded on the conduct sheet in the front of your child’s binder Once the 4th mark is made, the student starts on a

tracking form (the parent has already been notified) From then on, each conduct mark is written on the

tracking form, a total of 4 for one form The student sees the assistant principal afterwards

Communication A weekly skills

agenda is sent home on Monday. Please read with your child.

Skills in Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies are listed.

Test dates will be listed for the week.

A Test Folder is sent home every other Wednesday

Class work and weekly tests from the previous weeks are included. Sign the progress report. Return the form and the graded papers the next day.

Grades come from graded class work, projects, participation, notebook checks, and tests

It is extremely important that all class work assigned to a student is finished

Class work not finished at school becomes work to finish at home

Incomplete work will result in a lower grade

Grading System

We have a “Reading and Writing Workshop” textbook and an “Anthology” textbook* Grades come from workbook pages, research projects, and fresh reads

Grades are divided into these categories: Assessments (55%)

Classwork/Research (30%)Oral Reading Fluency (10%)

Other (5%)

AMSTI with Math Investigations

Includes daily data, quick images, hands-on materials, lots of practice, and workbook pages

Students record their findings and reasoning in their binder.

Students work on strategies to help solve math problems.

The Reading curriculum includes a Language, Spelling, and vocabulary portion.

Spelling- Weekly list/weekly test Language skills are correlated with the Reading

program. Writing- 3 modes of writing are taught: Narrative,

Descriptive, and Expository

Copy all notes or study guides when given

Prepare for tests If absent, provide an excuse
