Classroom Rules

Consequences: Elective/Academic Detention/

Lunch Privileges• Passing my class is essential to you academic

progression. • My work is simple and I do not give much homework

because I know you have other classes. I am more than willing to assist with an assignment or a concept but if you choose to not complete an assignment…

• You will have academic detention• You will lose your elective• You will not be able to sit with your friends during lunch

Required Materials• 2 Pencils- or trade off your backpack or belonging of the

teacher’s choice. You must place the belonging in the teacher’s hand and allow the teacher to give you a pencil. You are not allowed to take pencils or pen from my desk. If you do it will be considered theft.

- Return Policy-After you put the pencil in my hands, I will allow you to get your possessions.

Student materials• You must bring all materials to class.• If you do not have the required materials, you

must…. -raise you hand and receive permission to speak. - ask for a pencil/pen before class starts! - if I have the materials, then I have to use one of your items as collateral. Ex. Johnny must let Mrs. Stewart hold his backpack until she gets her pen.

Passing in Assignments

• After we quickly go over assignment/homework we will pass it to the front and someone will take it up from the front.

• The person who takes up the work will put it in the proper location.

• If it is not at the front when everyone’s is to the front it will be considered late or not accepted.

• Do NOT walk to the front to give me your work.

Testing Procedure

• Once the test are out there will be no talking.• Talking during the test will result in a “0” for a

major test grade. You will make up the assignment during your elective time.

• Once you have completed your test, check over it. I will not collect the test until the period is over. If you choose to not check over your test and remain quiet, I will give you another test or assignment.

Think, Pair, Share• When we share what we have learned after research or instruction,

we must share our ideas in an orderly fashion.• I will say “go” when it is time to start. Make sure that when you are

sharing, that you stay in your seat. Converse with the neighbors nearest you about the content.

• Make sure that you are a little above a whisper. If you chose not to follow direction, you will have less time to talk to your friends.

• After we share what we have learned with our neighbor, we will have a class discussion. I will ask you what you have learned and what your neighbor has learned.

• No one likes to be embarrassed. Follow Directions so your classmates do not have negative thoughts about you wasting our time.

Collaborative Learning/Centers• I will give you directions before the activity. The directions

will be stated verbally or written on the smartboard.• The materials for the centers will be under your desk in a

ziplock bag or on butcher paper. Your attention should be on the teacher and you hands should be on or above you desk.

• During the individual centers make sure that you are quiet and focused on the assignment.

• After the center, we will review the assignment. Participate!

Collaborative Learning-Gallery Walk

• Gallery Walk-Activity where problems are posted on the board.

• We will split the room in half. Half of the class will rotate around room and solve problem. Put your answers on a sticky note.

• The other half of the class will be working on problems in pairs.

• The groups will switch and then we will go over the problem as a class.

Random Grouping

• When I say “go” you will take your pencil and the grouping sheet and quietly get out of your seat and walk around the room..1 group ( you must pick someone who is ). When I ring the bell stop and listen to instructions.

• You must pick someone different who is the opposite sex

• You can pick your frient

Collaborative Learning: Whiteboard & Active Game

• When we are using the whiteboard, they will be placed underneath your desk.

• You will receive a dry erase marker, if you do not have one during bellwork or during an assignment.

• Make sure that you continue your work while the material is being passed out.

• During the game, the class will be split into two teams. One person will volunteer to read the problem and then the class will write their answer on the dry erase board.

• Keep your boards down until I give the call (1, 2, 3 boards up). This will prevent the other team from seeing your answer.

Presentations

• Reading and speaking in front of one’s peers is both necessary and frightening

unless appropriate, and always applauding for each speaker at the end of the presentations.
