Central Nervous SystemIs the control center of the body and includes

the brain and the spinal cordThree main regions of the brain: the

VocabularyCerebrum- interprets input from the senses,

controls movements, and carries out complex mental processes such as learning and remembering.

Cerebellum- coordinates the actions of your muscles and helps you keep your balance

Brain stem- controls your body’s involuntarys actions.

Peripheral Nervous SystemConsists of a network of nerves that branch

out from the central nervous system and connect to the rest of the body.

This nervous system is involved in various actions both voluntary and involuntary.

Peripheral Nervous SystemThe nerves of the peripheral nervous system

can be divided into somatic and autonomic nervous stem.

Somatic- controls voluntary actions or what you control.

Autonomic- controls involuntary actions like your heart beating.

VocabularyReflex-an automatic response that occur vary

rapidly and without conscience control. Reflexes help protect the body

Concussion-A bruise-like injury to the brain

Concussions and spinal cord injuries are two ways in which the nervous system can be

damaged
