JDEIS Functionality Recommendations

• "References" be removed from the task description section and moved into a separate section entitled “References”.

• Urgent Proposed Tasks contained in the JDEIS DB should contain a disclaimer (i.e. “This task is in staffing and will be sent to the community via JSAP …”)

• Tasks being considered for revision (new, modify or delete) be annotated to show this change request within the JDEIS Database

JDEIS Functionality Recommendations

• Within the UJTL Portal, capability to see which UJTs have ATDs without opening each UJT

• Remove the following from existing ATDs: Description, Note/Background, References (base UJT only), and Measures

– Only include Task Title followed by “Additional Task Detail” (i.e. OP 5.3.2 Issue Planning Guidance Additional Task Detail [ATD])

• JDEIS inoperability w/ MS Vista Operating System for .mil users– Vista Issues dealt with individually by helpdesk. Send JDEIS

helpdesk an email for assistance

– Sometimes may be caused by Command’s firewall or software and settings updates/changes

JDEIS Improvements

• JS J7 continues to make positive improvements to the UJTL portal

–Searchable ATD PDF

–Excel Spreadsheet with ATD listing with embedded hyperlinks for the ATD files

–PDF of complete UJT task listing • Provides recent list of changes for those tasks which were

approved by JSAPs as well as the date of approval for all of the UJT tasks.

– Index listing of all UJT tasks (to include LoWs and titles)

–Continuous Horse Blanket updates

UTDT Functionality Recommendations

• Please continue the presence of the UTDT Test website since it proves VERY useful for training new sub-OPOCs.

– Posting of OPOC and sub-OPOC training on JDEIS is helpful

• Additional Functionality Requested:

– In voting section, by default, recommend text entered into the comments box be blue & underlined

– Ability to copy text out of the tool

– Ability to spell check comments and rationale

– Lack of an “undo” feature for OPOCs (and sub-OPOCs)

– Once the JSAP is submitted, there is no “undo” feature to add additional comments/changes

– Filter application for reviewing comments (i.e. sort by type: Administrative, Substantive, Major, or Critical)

– Ability for OPOC to make comments to JSAP

• The search utility does not always function requiring users to log out and back in

• The “Reports” utility button does not always pull up the CRM. Users must log out and back in to produce a report

•Don’t duplicate title, description, note, measures, and joint doctrine references in a JSAP when there is an ATD

• Sub-OPOC assignments are difficult to make when the application is unable to gather all of the user names to allow assignment to the JSJ7 JSAP taskers. Users must log out and back in

•UTDT Voting Improvements:

– In voting section, “open JSAP” window, the following status fields would be helpful:

– Assigned

– Comments saved but not submitted

– Submitted

•Recommend expandable window (not fixed) to see all the columns within “open JSAP” window

•Color Coding within “open JSAP” window (i.e. green task completed/submitted to OPOC, yellow- in progress [comments entered but not saved], red- not started or overdue)

UTDT Functionality (cont.)

- Once an OPOC highlights selected text and selects “add a comment for the selected text”, the GUI (top window) containing the JSAP resets causing the user to try to find where they were in the JSAP by scrolling up/down– Visibility of the area in which the OPOC is commenting in the

top window without having to find again

– Applies in matrix view as well.

• Would like to be able to click on each comment within matrix view and have the text display in GUI above (rather than having to scroll to find highlighted text)

•When commenting in the voting module, the task (number) edited should populate in the respective field

Other UJTL Issues/Recommendations

•Update UJTL Operational Templates

–Will future templates be based on Range of Military Operations (ROMO)? If not, what will they be based on?

•When UJTs are being reviewed for modification or deletion the submitter is strongly recommended to review and modify the ATD portion (if applicable) accordingly

–Submitting organization has the subject matter expertise to update the ATD

•Recommend removing “Conditions” as an ATD field• Conditions determined in METL development and not

applicable for all users of the UJT

Other Issues/Recommendations

• The community (as a whole) must start following the most current UJTL CJCSI and CJCSM

– Too many individuals are still using outdated references. OPOCs need to stress use of the JDEIS DB for current list of UJTs

• Front End Analysis Improvement (OPOCs)

- Basic Task Guidelines (joint & universal; one verb & one object; only the “what”- not the who, why or how; not an operation; attainable/measurable [not place holder/overarching task to serve as a header]; simple & quantifiable/qualitative measures; correct references, etc.)

- Avoid duplicates of existing tasks tailored for specific command

- Tasks should be grouped by function rather than organization

- Tasks should not be missions or operations

Other Issues/Recommendations

• Interoperability Issues:

- DRRS & JTIMS updated in conjunction with JDEIS/UTDT

- i.e. when task is deleted, appears in both tools immediately

- Doctrinal References & Terms reflect changes in applicable UJTs (i.e. MOOTW removed from all UJTs and replaced with “Stability Operations”)

•With regard to USJFCOM Joint Intelligence Training JMO, they request to be the focal point for all Joint Intel Tasks
