School

GOAL: Develop and/or strengthen language skills to communicate in Spanish

How we will achieve that: Students will learn short, simple phrases and vocabulary about familiar topics (greetings, farewells, introductions, numbers, colors, age, school/home objects/people, calendar, animals, clothing, etc.)

GOAL: Build an understanding and appreciation of other cultures

How we will achieve that: We will “travel” to different countries to

learn about different cultures and landmarks. ***Heritage Speakers/Advanced Speakers of Spanish will receive opportunities to work on accelerated activities during the year.

Aspire To Excellence is an academic planning initiative designed to provide

families with information as they are planning for their child's future in APS. Aspire2Excellence underscores the importance of every student taking rigorous courses and meeting rigorous graduation requirements in order to be ready for life after high school.

For more information on academic planning, contact one of the school counselors at Oakridge: Ms. Terwilliger, Ms. Gaeta or Ms. Harrington.  Fliers are also available in the library this evening.  Additional information can also be found on the Oakridge website.

Homework

Homework is given Monday-Thursday. Reflects what we learned in class – in my class it consists of

reading and math Must be returned in homework folder 20 minutes of reading every night! Please help guide your child, but it is not necessary to

correct homework. -A posted note on homework- alerts me to an area of weakness -Homework is “graded” based on completion.
