Everyone has their own idea of their best life. For people living with multiple sclerosis, the idea of that “best life” can change due to the challenges of having a chronic, unpredictable and lifelong disease. To address this challenge, the Society developed this new program for people living with MS, their support partners and family members: Everyday Matters: Living Your Best Life with MS.

positive psychology; identify a challenge they would like to address, along with the positive psychology strategy(ies) they want to employ to develop an action plan; and participate in an interactive learning experience, deepening the classroom experience through sharing and connecting with others.

Each session’s 90-minute tele-learning program has two parts: a lecture component and a discussion. Program runs August 4 through September 8, from 5:00-6:30pm.

*Call space is limited; to join this free tele-learning program, please register by calling (800) 344-4867, option 1.

Ocean Beach native and

local surf legend Steve Bettis

was diagnosed with MS in

2006. Although surfing is still

central to his life, he hasn’t

been able to get out on the

water in 10 years. For a man

whose daily routine always

included a few waves, more than a decade

out of the surf is just too long. This is why the

National MS Society teamed up with his

buddy Robert “Wingnut” Weaver and used

virtual reality to get Steve back

on his wave. See their
