M.S. Electrical Engineering Degree Requirements Approval Form This form may be used as a planning tool throughout the student’s graduate career but must be submitted at the beginning of the student’s FINAL semester. Please carefully read and understand the following instructions and information in order to properly fill out the form. This form is a fillable PDF; it is preferable to have the form typed. Research Courses, Independent Studies, and Internships ECE 890 and ECE 990 (research) and ECE 702 (internship credits) cannot count toward a master’s degree. Course option students may count a maximum of 6 credits of any combination of ECE 699 and ECE 999 (independent studies). No research courses, including ECE 790, may be used for the course option master’s. Project and thesis option students must have a minimum of 3 credits of ECE 790 (research). At maximum, students may count up to 9 credits of any combination of ECE 699, ECE 790, or ECE 999. Prior Coursework Students who completed their bachelor's degree at UW-Madison may count up to 7 credits of coursework numbered 400-level or above toward M.S. and Ph.D. degree requirements with faculty advisor approval. Students are allowed to fulfill up to 9 credits of degree and ECE course requirements with previous graduate- level coursework from other institutions. However, if these credits were used toward a bachelor's or master’s degree at another institution, they may not be used toward a master’s degree at UW-Madison; they can only be used toward doctoral requirements. To approve prior coursework from a different institution, please complete the appropriate form found here: (https://www.engr.wisc.edu/department/electrical-computer- engineering/academics/master-of-science-electrical-engineering/). Per Graduate School policy, coursework earned five or more years prior to admission to a master’s degree or coursework earned ten or more years prior to admission to a doctoral degree is not allowed to satisfy requirements. Prior coursework from other institutions or from a UW-Madison undergraduate career will not appear on a student’s UW-Madison graduate transcript. It will not count toward the student’s graduate GPA. English as a Second Language Courses ESL courses numbered 300-level or above can count toward the 30 graduate credits, but not toward ECE course requirements. Grades and GPA Students must achieve an overall 3.0 grade point average or higher in all graduate work. All courses, with the exception of the current term courses (write "TBD" as the grade for currently enrolled courses), must have final grades reported. No incomplete or unreported grades are acceptable. “P” (progress) grades must be changed to “S” or “U” grades. Student is responsible for contacting the instructor and/or advisor if grades need to be changed. "B" or better grades and "S" grades are acceptable. M.S. Electrical Engineering Degree Requirements Approval Form

This form may be used as a planning tool throughout the student’s graduate career but must be submitted at the beginning of the student’s FINAL semester.
