There are several known issues with the migration process for GroupWise, MSMail and cc:Mail mail systems. The following describes some of the workarounds for these problems.

GroupWiseIn order to migrate from GroupWise 5.x to Exchange 2000, you must install the GroupWise 5.x client on the Exchange 2000 Server that performs the migration. The Migration Wizard uses the GroupWise client to access message items in GroupWise. When the client is installed, a mail profile called Novell Default Settings is created, and the profile automatically adds Exchange Server as one of its information services. Therefore, the client prompts for an Exchange logon for each migrating user, and this interrupts migration.

To ensure an uninterrupted migration process:

1. Edit the GroupWise mail profile to remove Exchange Server from its list of services.

2. Launch the GroupWise client.

3. Open the Address Book.

4. Go to File\Services.

5. Remove Exchange Server from the list of Services installed.

MSMailIf you are running the English version of MSMail on a localized version of Microsoft Windows® 2000 Server in an unsupported language for Exchange Server 2000, you must manually replace the Msfs32.dll. Its version needs to be localized in the same language as your Windows 2000 version. Msfs32.dll is installed with Microsoft Outlook® and can be copied from a computer where Outlook is installed.

Note: Installing Outlook in the localized language is not supported.

cc:Mail version 8.5

To migrate mail from cc:Mail version 8.51. Copy the cc:Mail files Import32.exe and Export32.exe to the Excusive\Bin

directory or to the directory where Migration Wizard is installed, assuming you did not use the default directory.

2. Rename Import32.exe to Import.exe.3. Rename Export32.exe to Export.exe. 4. Copy the following files to the Exchsrvr\Bin directory: Cfw803.dll,

Ciw803.dll and Mew803.dll.

Deployment Documentation CorrectionIn chapter 20 of Deploying Exchange in a Small Organization, under the topic Deploying Exchange 2000 Server, the following sentence is misleading:

"After the system is configured, they will use the Migration Wizard to create new Exchange mail accounts based on the Sendmail directory."

Unless the Sendmail directory is Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)-based, or a custom directory extractor was used, the Migration Wizard will not be able to migrate from the SendMail directory.
