Wearejustabouttofinishourwholeclassnovel,Frindle!Thisweekstudentsdelvedmoredeeplyintpcharactertraits.Theyusedacomprehensivelist(seephotoonwebsite)andhighlightedtraitsthattheythemselvespossessandchosesometraitsthattheyfoundinourmaincharacter,NickAllen.Itwasgreattoseestudentsconnectingcharactertraitstoour“HeartSmart”vocabularyaswell!
VOCABULARY
Inpreparationforthisweek’sWordlyWisetest#4,weplayedcharades.Groupschoseawordandacteditoutasateamfortherestofustoguess.WealsoplayedAroundtheWorld.Weemphasizedtheimportanceofcominginpreparedforatest.
CURSIVE
Thisweekwegaveoutourcursivehandwritingworkbooks.Wewillworkthroughtheseinclasstohelpstudentsrememberandpracticecursivewriting.Studiesshowthatcursivewritingisalsogoodfortracking(whenreading).Forstudentswhostrugglewithprint,cursiveisoftenaloteasierandtheyenjoyseeingadifferenceintheirhandwriting.
