We understand that quality childcare is expensive. Next to housing, childcare is the largest
expense in most families’ budgets. The main source for long-term assistance with childcare cost
is Child Care Management Services. The state government can often help finance any parents
who might approach them for assistance. The Texas government has put forth significant effort
and funding to ensure the welfare of children, including Child Care Management Services
(CCMS).

AUSTIN CHARTER & PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Austin Charter Schools:
www.kippaustin.org | www.eaprep.org | www.utexas.edu | www.utelementary.org
www.austindiscoveryschool.org
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) is a United States Act of Congress that is a
reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the government's flagship aid
program for disadvantaged students.
Students attending schools labeled as under-performing by state standards now have the option
to transfer to a different school in the district, whether it is a state, private, or charter school. If a
failing school cannot show adequate yearly progress, it will be designated a charter school.
Austin Public Schools:
http://www.austinisd.org
Austin Independent School District
AISD is a diverse, urban district that is making great progress in student academic
achievement. AISD is the fifth largest school district in Texas, and serves approximately 85,000
students at 128 schools.
The District's student population has grown by six percent over the past five years, and our
Economically Disadvantaged student population has grown by 15 percent, and represents 61.3
percent of all students. Our English Language Learner population has grown by 35 percent over
the past five years, and now comprises 29 percent of our student population. We've also seen a
14 percent growth in our Hispanic students, a 10 percent decrease in our African American
population, and a 5 percent drop in our White student numbers.
The District also supports families that represent more than 94 languages, and we teach seven
languages other than English in our schools, including Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and
American Sign Language.

Annual Credit Report

Credit reports may affect your mortgage rates, credit card approvals, apartment requests, or even
your job application.

TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian.
Credit Karma
https://www.creditkarma.com Credit Karma gives you access to all of your financial information — bank accounts, credit
cards, bills, mortgages, loans, and, of course, your credit scores — all in one location, all under

Banks vs Credit Unions
Credit Unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist to serve their members. Credit unions
accept deposits and make loans. Credit union income is returned to members and that's why
credit unions can offer higher interest rates on deposits and lower rates on loans. CASH BACK!
Credit unions are democratically operated by members, allowing account holders an equal say in
how the credit union is operated, regardless of how much they have invested in the credit union.
In order to join a credit union, potential members must be part of a field of membership, which is
typically based on one’s employment, community, or membership in an association or
organization. (Usually AUSTIN TEXAS city limits).
General Fees: $5.00 Deposit to Open
Banks are often much larger than credit unions, which allows them to offer much more variety
to account holders. Banks are for-profit institutions. Banks have no restrictions on who they
serve; anyone can open a bank account, paying the required fees. Banks pay the customer lower
interest rates on deposit accounts and offer loans at higher interest rates.
General Fees: $50.00-$100.00 Deposit to Open
