Young’s Art News Ms. 2019 – 2020 School Year Welcome back everyone!!! I hope you all enjoyed your summer and are looking forward to this school year! Get ready to get CREATIVE! Trimester 1- *Color Theory *Where do you see color in life?What kinds of colors do you find in life? *Help students by pointing out colors and asking them what Complimentary colors are or what the words Intermediate/Tertiary mean. Students will be exploring the primary and secondary colors, and learning how to mix and create various other colors. Projects will range from VanGogh inspired Pumpkin Patches and Rainbow Umbrellas, to Wacky Vases to Monochromatic Optical Illusions and Stark Raving Paper Sculptures. Students will experiment with watercolors, markers, colored pencils, craypas, and construction paper. Trimester 2- * Design Unit * Where do you see design? Look at different patterns and textures – clothing, buildings, art work, Cultural patterns like Mehndi and Mandalas. What is a zentangle? Trimester 3 *Portrait Unit *What is a Portrait? Students will learn about profile, frontal, and ¾ view portraits. Help them practice drawing each & understanding what they see. Practice drawing just 1 eye, or ear, nose, and mouth! Be sure to use a mirror J REWARD: Students will work towards STARS on the Class Behavior chart each class, as well as a STAR student!
